"Baby" MITCHELL - 15 Months/ Accused: Father-Marcus Mitchell - Bartlesville OK

Charges have not been filed for three Dewey people, who were arrested
last week in connection with the murder of a 15-month-old child February
24th. Dewey police arrested the child's father, 22-year-old Marcus
Mitchell on a murder complaint. Marcus' mother 48-year-old Juanchellee
(wahn-chuh-lee) Fitch has been arrested for being an accessory to
first-degree murder and the child's mother, 23-year-old Ashley Mitchell
has been arrested for enabling child abuse and child neglect. According
to a court affidavit, a doctor from the Medical Examiner's Office says
the child died from blunt chest trama and that the child was a victim of
a chronic pattern of child abuse. Marcus Mitchell told the police he
was alone with the child when he saw the victim was eating cereal and
began to choke on the cereal. Reportedly, Mitchell struck the child on
the back, saw blood on the baby's face, and cleaned the face. He later
put the child in a playpen, covered the baby with a blanket, left the
child alone, and went to work. The affidavit states that the baby's
mother wasn't home at the time of the incident and that Marcus' mother
was present. Washington County Assistant District Attorney Will Drake
says charges are expected to be filed by Wednesday. All three suspects'
next court date is this Wednesday afternoon. Bond for Marcus and
Ashley Mitchell was set at $500,000 each while Fitch's bond was set at
$250,000.
