ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A judge granted a civil motion Tuesday to delay Case Anthony’s civil trial until next year.
Zenaida Gonzalez is suing Casey, for claiming, a woman by that name kidnapped her daughter, Caylee.
WFTV’s legal analyst, Bill Shaeffer, sat down with opposing sides of the next round of the Casey Anthony saga.
“I’m saying that your client put herself in this position, by bringing this lawsuit instead of just being quiet and going away,” said Sheaffer.
“First of all, she was not anonymous when we met her.” “She was a kidnapping murder suspect,” said Gonzalez’s lawyer John Morgan.
“This case is so expensive for Orange County, because people are already lining up for tickets for Casey Anthony two as the trial is now being billed,” said Charles Greene Anthony’s civil attorney.
Greene said Casey’s notoriety is being hijacked for the civil court case brought by Gonzalez.
“We don’t think its money that she’s looking for since Casey Anthony is unemployed and qualified for indigency, so obviously she doesn’t have anything,” Greene said.
Gonzalez’s attorney’s told Shaeffer, Anthony is still hiding behind lies and an appeal on misdemeanor convictions.
“It’s not like this appeal, if she loses the appeal, she goes to jail. Time served is time served,” Morgan said.
“How long can the civil justice be held at bay? That’s why we say you want to take the fifth, we’re proceeding with the trial and we’ll let the chips fall where they may,” Gonzalez’s lawyer Keith Mitnick said.
Casey’s attorney offered an apology, but doesn’t think it will end litigation.
“Ms. Gonzalez, I’ll apologize from the bottom of my heart and I’ll make sure Casey Anthony does too if you’ll dismiss this case,” Greene said.
Anthony’s civil trial is now set to begin in January 2013. Attorneys for both sides said they had scheduling conflicts with a planned April 10th start date.
