TORREY BROWN Jr - 7 Months/ Accused: Mother-Sharrieckia Page - Commerce City/ Denver CO
Police were investigating a report of a missing child with suspicious circumstances on Thursday.
At about 4 p.m., Commerce City Police were called to an
apartment in the 5600 block of Olive Street on a report of a missing child.
Police say the child's mother is cooperating with the investigation
and it's not believed any other children or residents in the area are in danger.
Late Thursday night, police were still on scene and had taped off some Dumpsters at the apartment complex.
Based on initial information, police determined an Amber Alert is not appropriate.
Investigators did not release a description, name or age of the child. More information is expected to be released on Friday.

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. -- Police said Friday they
have arrested a Commerce City mother and are presuming that the
7-month-old son she reported missing is dead.Neighbors told 7NEWS
they saw officers remove at least two bags from a trash bin at the
Pinecrest Apartment complex about 4 p.m. Thursday. They said an officer
cradled a black bag in his arms, which made them think he was carrying a
body.Commerce City Police Lt. Dennis Moon confirmed that
investigators did search trash bins at the complex at 5659 Olive Street.
But he said he could not say whether the baby's body had been found,
citing the need to protect the ongoing investigation.
The 22-year-old mother, Sharrieckia
Trinette Page, was arrested Thursday night and held at the Adams County
Detention Facility on suspicion of child abuse resulting in death,
according to jail records. The Adams County District Attorney's Office
will make the decision on formal charges.7NEWS also confirming
late Friday that the Colorado Department of Human Services will conduct a
fatality review in this case, meaning the family had some prior contact
with local social services case agents.A sheriff's spokesman said Page was being held in the jail infirmary but did not explain why. Her bond was set at $100,000.A
neighbor at the Pinecrest apartments in Commerce City told 7NEWS he
thought it was strange that Page's apartment appeared to have no
furniture inside. He also believed the two children - a girl who appeared to be "7 or 8" and a boy "around 3 or 4" - always looked happy.“Late
Monday, early Tuesday morning I heard some arguing (between a man and a
woman). Just a couple of doors slamming, but nothing too major,” said
Justin Jones. “Nothing so serious for this. You know. So, it’s scary.
Close to home.”In her arrest photo, Page looks haggard and much older than her 22 years.
Police said the mother was taken in for questioning Thursday
afternoon and was cooperative at first. But she became less cooperative

Re: TORREY BROWN Jr - 7 Months/ Accused: Mother-Sharrieckia Page - Commerce City/ Denver CO
COMMERCE CITY — A mother has been arrested and Commerce City police are looking for her 7-month-old child,
who is presumed to be dead.
Sharrieckia Trinette Page, 22, was being held at the Adams County jail Friday evening on suspicion of child
abuse resulting in death, according to the Adams County Sheriff's Office. She is being held on $100,ooo bail.
On Thursday, police were called to the 5600 block of Olive Street after the child was
reported missing, but investigators now suspect the child is dead.
LaShannon Younger of Peoria, Ill., Page's cousin, told The Denver Post she called
police Thursday and asked them to check on the child after having
disturbing telephone conversations with Page. Younger

said Page told her she was having difficulties raising the infant. Page
"kept telling me, 'I gave him away, I gave him away,' " Younger said.
"Then she busted up and said: 'He's gone, he's gone. He's never coming back.' "
Younger said the little boy's name is Torrey Brown.
Younger said she offered to take the boy in, to help Page out.
"She couldn't do it, I guess," Younger said.
Neighbors at the Pinecrest Apartments on Olive Street — just adjacent to Rose
Hill Elementary — said Page had moved into the complex less than two months ago.
Robert Willis, who lived in the same building, said Friday police centered their search on one of the Dumpsters that sits in
the middle of the apartment
complex and cornered it off for hours. He said he was
upset when he discovered what police were searching for.
"I didn't know her," Willis said. "But it just makes me sick. It's not adults or even teenagers; it's an infant."
Another neighbor who did not wish to be identified said she had not seen Page
for more than a week but had last seen Page's children with "her
significant other," and saw that man pushing an empty stroller just a few days ago.
Investigators with the Colorado Department of Human Services Division of Child
Welfare are aiding in the investigation. The agency has opened a child
fatality review in the case, indicating that child welfare workers had
previous contact with the family.
"We are working with Adams County in an attempt to locate the child," said Liz McDonough,
spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Human Services.
About a dozen Aurora officers also assisted Friday in a search at Montview Park
for several hours, but the search for the baby was fruitless, said
Sgt. Cassidee Carlson, an Aurora Police Department spokeswoman.
Multiple sources said Friday that officials were searching for the baby at a landfill in Arapahoe County.

Re: TORREY BROWN Jr - 7 Months/ Accused: Mother-Sharrieckia Page - Commerce City/ Denver CO
A father and grandmother say they tried to protect a 7-month-old baby from the child’s mother, but the system failed them.
Sharrieckia Page, 22, is the child’s mother. Commerce City police
accuse her of child abuse resulting in death even though the family says
police haven’t found the body yet.
The child’s father, Torrey Brown Sr., and grandmother, Corinthian
Brown, say they’ve been told detectives have been searching in and
around the Arapahoe County area for the baby boy’s body. They say it all
could have been prevented.
“Was he in pain? Was he in pain? That’s what I think of when I look at his footprints,” Corinthian Brown said.
Corinthian Brown said she was very concerned about baby Torrey’s
welfare. She called Child Protective Services on Page. She said last
November she told case workers about threatening comments that Page made
about the baby.
“‘If somebody doesn’t come help me,’ … she said she was going to hurt him,” Corinthian Brown said.

Torrey Brown Sr. said he got the calls as well.
“Just a bunch of crazy stuff, and, ‘Don’t get mad if pretty much he ends up in a casket,’ ” Torrey Brown Sr. said Page told him.
The Browns said they offered to help Page and take all three of her children, but the young mother wouldn’t let them.
The Browns said when they saw detectives searching through dumpsters
outside of Page’s apartment they new those threats became reality.

Torrey Brown Sr. said he also received a disturbing phone call from Page on Monday night from jail.
“She said, ‘This is what you wanted, right?’ And, ‘Are you happy?’
And then just hung up on me,” he said. “It showed that she’s not even
feeling remorseful about it.”

Re: TORREY BROWN Jr - 7 Months/ Accused: Mother-Sharrieckia Page - Commerce City/ Denver CO
The Commerce City Police Department and other law-enforcement
agencies are back out at the Denver Arapahoe Disposal Site Thursday
morning.
They are searching for a body in the dump, which is just off of South Gun Club Road.
Commerce City Police says it wants to protect the integrity of the
investigation, and therefore won't say the case associated with the
search.
Sources last week claimed to 9NEWS the agencies were searching for the missing-and-presumed-dead 7-month-old child.
A few weeks ago, Adams/Broomfield County District Attorney filed
charges of child abuse resulting in death against 22-year-old
Sharrieckia Page. The Commerce City Police Department investigated a
missing-person incident involving Page's son on March 29. Investigators
say the 7-month-old child is presumed dead.
Sources confirmed to 9NEWS the baby was thrown in a dumpster.
LaShannon Younger of Peoria, Ill., Page's cousin, told 9NEWS'
partners at The Denver Post she called police. She was worried about the
baby after she talked with Page on the phone.
Younger says Page told her she was having a hard time raising the
child. She says her cousin kept saying that she gave the baby away and
that he was never coming back.
Court documents have been sealed to preserve the integrity of the investigation.
9NEWS Legal Analyst Scott Robinson says finding the young boy's body is important in this case.
"There has to be some evidence of a crime over and beyond a
confession," Robinson said. "Without a body in this case, prosecutors
may not have everything they need to ensure a conviction."
Page is due in court again on April 25 for a preliminary hearing.

may not have everything they need to ensure a conviction."
Page is due in court again on April 25 for a preliminary hearing.

Re: TORREY BROWN Jr - 7 Months/ Accused: Mother-Sharrieckia Page - Commerce City/ Denver CO
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — Police say they found the remains of an infant
at regional landfill, and they believe it may be the body of a missing
7-month-old boy.
Hundreds of people have spent the past 53 days sorting through 13,000
tons of waste, searching for the body of seven month old Torrey Brown, Jr.
His mother, 22-year-old Sharrieckia Page reported him missing in late
March, but investigators say her story quickly fell apart.
The baby’s father, Torrey Brown, Sr. tells FOX31 Denver that police
told him Page admitted putting the baby’s body in the dumpster.
Page has been arrested for first degree murder and child abuse
resulting in death. She’s being held without bond in the Adams County Jail.
Brown says he called Social Services a few months ago when Page told him she was going to “strangle” the baby boy.
He says recently he and his family were taking care of his son and
Page’s other two children and says they were willing to continue doing
so, but Social Services forced him to return the children to Page.
The State Department of Human Services confirms they are reviewing how this case was handled.
Page has a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 15.

The remains of an infant found in an Arapahoe County dump were identified through DNA as those of a missing 7-month-old boy.
Torrey Brown Jr. had been missing since March 29.
The
boy's mother, Sharrieckia Page, 23, has been charged with first degree
murder and child abuse resulting in death in connection to the case.
"It
was important to the officers and volunteers involved to provide some
sense of closure to family members in this difficult case," said acting
Commerce City Police Chief Chuck Saunier.
District attorney Don
Quick said he is grateful that the child has been recovered for his
family. "I realize this has been a seemingly endless wait."
Police
say Torrey may have been smothered to death. Court documents obtained
by 9Wants to Know accuse Page of placing his body in a "book bag" and
throwing it into a Dumpster.
"The defendant has recently made
statements that if she were to kill one child, she would've killed them
all because they are 'bad,' " the affidavit filed in Adams County
District Court said.
Investigators found Torrey's remains in a landfill near E-470 and Hampden on June 1.
The
search the for child's body took 53 days and involved 500 people from
26 agencies and community organizations, Commerce City police said.
About 9,900 tons of garbage were sifted during 12-hour shifts. The
search cost $10,000 per day.
Page is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on July 20 at 9 a.m. in Adams County District Court.
