Teen girl arrested in death of infant in Del City

DEL CITY, Okla. (AP) -- A 14-year-old girl has been arrested in the death of her infant son.
Del City police Capt. Jody Suit says the boy was 7-months-old when he died Sunday morning. The child's 14-year-old mother was arrested on a homicide complaint and taken to the Oklahoma County Jail.
Suit told reporters that the boy's death is believed to be due to child abuse. Officials say the infant had traumatic injuries that led doctors and investigators to believe the death was a homicide from abuse.
Suit says the boy's grandmother had custody of the infant but that she was at work at the time. He says the father of the boy is 15-years-old and is not believed to have been involved in the infant's death.

Why was the 15 year old not charged with rape or sex with a minor? In any state 13-14 is not an age of consent. The grandmother should have had more control on her daughter to allow her to get pregant at her age is just stupid. Another little baby dead. William

Del City teen mom arrested for son’s murder

DEL CITY, Okla. – A 14-year-old Del City girl was arrested on a first-degree murder complaint Sunday in connection with the death of her 7-month-old son, according to police.
Jennifer Respicio was booked into the Oklahoma County jail, accused of killing her infant son, Jaiden Respicio.
“Makes you appreciate your children a whole lot,” Del City Police Lt. Brian Wofford said Monday.
He said police got a call just before 7 a.m. Sunday regarding an unresponsive child in the 4700 block of S.E. 18th St. in Del City.
In less than an hour, Jaiden was pronounced dead at Children’s Hospital.
“The doctor examining the child determined that it appeared to be a child abuse case and notified our police department,” Wofford said.
He said doctors determined the child died of blunt force trauma, however the official cause and manner of death from the State Medical Examiner’s office is still pending.
Wofford said the teenage mom allegedly threw her son against a crib.
“The child was obviously struck by something hard in the stomach area,” he said. “Basically, she was angry at the time and that anger led to those injuries.”
One neighbor with a small child of her own said she understands the frustrations of being a young mom but said violence would never cross her mind.
“That’s when you walk away,” Sarah Blake said. “You don’t take the anger out on them. You cool off and then you come back to it.”
Wofford said Respicio lived with her mother and sister at the home where the abuse allegedly took place.
No one answered the door Monday afternoon.
Wofford said a 15-year-old boyfriend was staying there as well but he is not the father of the child and is not believed to have been involved in the death.

She was 12 or 13 when she got pregnant. The father should be prosecuted. Where were her parents?
Poor little baby probably wanted to be fed and the mother didn't want to get up and feed him.
Her 15 year old boyfriend was spending the night. Guess she was trying to make another baby

Got that right. By law you can't consent at 12 or 13. No matter if your "in love" and your boy friend is 15. It's still illegal in every state. If she's 14 now she had to have the baby at least at 13 probably got pregnant at 12. These cases the grand parents should be charged with child endangerment. Won't help the little angel gone now. I read that OK has about the highest teen pregancy rate in the country. Not enough boys being charged with having sex with minors. William
