The search for missing teen Brandon Eckert continued Wednesday.
WEST WHITELAND — The search for a missing teen who was discovered
missing early Tuesday continued into a second day, police said in a
statement Wednesday. West Whiteland Detective Scott Pezick confirmed that Brandon Eckert, 16, was still missing Wednesday afternoon.
Multiple law enforcement agencies continued a coordinated search
Wednesday that included members of the FBI, state police, the county’s
Major Incident Response Team, Chester County Detectives, and the
Pennsylvania Game Commission.
“This young man has been missing for quite a while now and we are
increasingly concerned for his safety,” District Attorney Tom Hogan said
Wednesday. “We are asking anyone with information to come forward. We
are bringing all available resources to bear to bring Brandon safely home.”
Eckert was last seen at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at the group
home where he lives in the 700 block of King Road. He was discovered
missing during a routine 6 a.m. bed check.
Eckert, who lives at a group home for those who suffer from emotional
and developmental disorders, has been diagnosed as mentally impaired and
has other mental health disorders, according to police. Police warned
that he has not taken his medication since leaving the home and as a
result may appear confused or agitated.
Members of the West Whiteland Police Department and K-9 units from the
Sheriff’s Department canvassed a wooded area around the Ship Road Park
Tuesday. Police also received unconfirmed reports that placed Eckert
near the Exton Elementary School and other points near the Exton center.
Police described Eckert as a white male, standing approximately 5 feet 7
inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Eckert was last seen wearing faded jeans, socks and thin-framed glasses.
Police said it was possible that he is still in the area or that he may attempt to travel to York County, where he has family.
