Body found in Fort Thompson believed to be missing teenager
10/20/2012
he FBI is investigating the discovery of a body inFort Thompson, which is believed to missing teenager Shauntae Marks.
Two
teenage boys walking along a sandbar on the outskirts of town found the
body Friday. An autopsy is needed to confirm the identity, but many in
the community believe the body is that of the missing teenager. Marks
disappeared in early May.
A Fort Thompson
police officer confirmed the discovery of the body, but couldn't say
what condition the body was in or how long it had been there. Marks'
aunt tells KSFY News it appears the body had been in the sandbar for
some time. Family members also say the body was taken to Rapid City for
an autopsy.
Marks
was reported missing on May 4 and believed to be endangered. The early
missing persons report said she was distraught over a relationship and
had made threats to harm herself. A city-wide search was conducted
immediately following her disappearance. Marks' family searched for
months, hoping to find the teen in another part of the state.
Marks would be a 10th grader this school year. Her family said she lived to draw and wanted to be an artist.
KSFY News Reporter Bridget Bennett is in Fort Thompson today. Look for her reports tonight on KSFY News at 6:00 and 10:00.

Oh, her dear parents . This child had an entire life of new friendships and relationships ahead of her. I wish schools taught kids to have faith in God's love and care instead of how to have sex. JMHO, but there would less children giving up on life.
