Newborn Jane" WILSON - 6 Months/ Accused: Mother-Mesha Wilson - Selma AL

A Selma mother is now charged with the death
of her 6-month-old daughter, according to police. The mother,
22-year-old Mesha Sherrell Wilson will be charged with capital murder.

Wilson called 911 Thursday afternoon to
report that while she was driving, she noticed her daughter having
difficulty breathing. The 911 operator told Wilson to pull over until
medics could arrive on the scene.

The child was taken to a local hospital where
she was pronounced dead. An autopsy Friday revealed the infants cause
of death as blunt force trauma to the head. The child's skull was also
fractured, according to the medical report.

Wilson told police that the baby fell out of
her crib, but the autopsy report doesn't support the claim, according to
investigators.

Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson said it's the worst case of child abuse he's seen in his seven years on the job.

Wilson was lead away from the Dallas County
Courthouse in handcuffs. She had no comment. She's being transported to
the county jail where she'll be held without bond.

No motive has been released. Authorities are declining to discuss the case further.

An arraignment hearing is not yet set.
