"Juvenile Girl" BERRY - xx age/ Accused: Mother-Ebony Berry - Smyrna GA

A Smyrna woman is in custody at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center charged with felony murder and first degree cruelty to children by deprivation in the death of her child.

Police and emergency personnel responded to the residence at 649
Concord Road around 1:30 p.m. Friday after receiving a 911 call.
Upon arrival on the scene, they discovered a deceased juvenile female,
severely malnourished and neglected.

There were other children in the home at the time that appeared to be
in good condition. The surviving children were all younger than the
deceased child and were released into the custody of the Georgia State
Department of Family and Children Services.

Ebony Espree Berry, 38, remains in custody with no
bond at the time of this publication. There is one other unspecified
charge listed on the booking report in addition to the murder and first
degree cruelty to children by deprivation. An autopsy will be conducted
to confirm the exact cause of the girl's death.
