Even Casey Anthony's Attorney Jose Baez Thought She Was Crazy

Casey Anthony’s acquittal of murdering her toddler daughter, Caylee, caused outrage last year and the only way you’re not familiar with the case is if you’ve lived in a cave. People that know Casey say she’s a habitual liar and she is likely one of the most hated women in the country. Even her lead attorney, Jose Baez, thought she was suffering from a serious mental illness.

Baez has jumped on the speeding money train and decided to profit off of Casey just as lead prosecutor, Jeff Ashton has. Baez has a new book coming out and in “Presumed Guilty, Casey Anthony: The Inside Story,” he firmly states that the detectives involved in the case should have realized that Casey lived in a “fantasy world”. This world according to Baez, was not proof of her guilt, but rather it was proof that she was mentally ill and in need of help. When describing how Anthony led detectives on a wild goose chase, even taking them to Universal Studios where she falsely claimed she had a job, Baez says, detectives “should have stopped and realized, ‘Wait a minute, we’re not dealing with someone who is playing with a full deck.”’

During the trial Casey had claimed she had been sexually abused by her father and this story of abuse is something that Baez also discusses in detail in this book. In between the scandalous details, he includes nonsense like the fact that Casey’s first meal after being released was a cheeseburger, fries and milkshake- because we care what she ate, apparently.

Baez also claims he suffered from depression after dealing with this case and was miserable during his wives’ pregnancy. Boy, imagine his poor wife!

Do you think we needed another Casey Anthony book this week- or ever? (The prosecution’s Jeff Ashton dropped his own account of the trial onto bookshelves recently too.) Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below!
