Deputies search for a missing 3 year-old girl

Eau Claire, Wis. - (WEAU) -- The Burnett County Sheriff's Office says a 3 year-old girl is missing after she wandered away from her home in the Town of Swiss, near Danbury on Tuesday night.

The missing girl is named Renna, and she is described as a white female, with green eyes and blonde hair, that was worn in a partial ponytail.

She was last seen wearing pants, a long-sleeved purple shirt, and she was not wearing shoes.

Deputies suspended the search early Wednesday morning, but it is expected to resume during daylight hours.

Search Continues Today For Girl Missing In Danbury

Authorities in Burnett County will resume their search for a 3-year-old girl this morning, who they say wandered away from her residence.

Renna Mae Williams was last seen at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night, at her house in Danbury.

Authorities describe Renna as a white female, with green eyes, and blonde hair, worn in a partial pony tail.

Renna was last seen wearing pants, a long-sleeved purple shirt and not wearing any shoes.

Listeners report seeing a Minnesota State Patrol helicopter out after dark on Tuesday night to search for the girl. It’s believed she lives by the river, and the powerplant.

An unofficial volunteer search has tentatively been set to begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning at the ballpark in Danbury.

A statement from the Burnett County Sheriff’s office indicates there is an adequate number of volunteers available locally to assist and if more are needed, a call for volunteers will be issued.

DANBURY - A three-year-old girl was reported missing early Tuesday evening, Aug. 14, from her Danbury home.

Renna Mae Williams was last seen wearing blue denim jean shorts, a long sleeve purple shirt and no shoes. She has green eyes with blonde hair in a partial pony tail.

The girl apparently wandered away from her residence in the unincorporated village of Danbury. Law enforcement was notified just before 7 p.m. and a search began immediately, assisted by multiple K-9 search and rescue teams as well as a Minnesota State Patrol helicopter equipped with an infrared imaging system.

At 2:56 a.m. Wednesday morning, ground search efforts were suspended. Deputies remain on the scene and search efforts will resume during daylight hours.

Danbury residents or anyone traveling through Danbury on Tuesday evening who may have seen Renna are asked to call the sheriff's office at 715-349-2121.

Missing 3-year-old girl's body found in canal near her Danbury, Wis., home

The body of a missing 3-year-old girl was found Wednesday in a canal near her northwestern Wisconsin home, authorities said.

Renna Mae Williams wandered away from her family's home in Danbury sometime before 7 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Burnett County Sheriff's Office.

Her body was found about 4:50 p.m. Wednesday after an extensive search, said Rhonda Reynolds, the county's emergency management director. Officials did not reveal that they had found her body until they had notified her family.

Law enforcement's initial search included rescue personnel, police dogs and a Minnesota State Patrol helicopter with an infrared imaging system.

More than 500 people, including hundreds of volunteers, searched for Renna throughout the day, Reynolds said. Searchers scoured an area along the Yellow River south of Danbury, Reynolds said. Part of the search area also had included the St. Croix River and the Minerva dam, said county spokeswoman Dawn Sargent.

Both parents were home at the time the girl wandered away, Sargent added. The local medical examiner was expected to investigate how she died.

In a statement Wednesday night the sheriff's office offered condolences to the girl's family and added: "We would like to thank the law enforcement, firefighters, search and rescue and the numerous volunteers who aided in this search. This was an extremely difficult search with the rugged terrain.

This is so sad. It seemed to be one of the few times they actually brought the search dogs in right away; wouldn't you think the dogs would have immediately tracked this darling to the canal?
Maybe they did and it was just too dark that first night. As a mother I think I'd start screaming and never, never stop.

Danbury, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) -- Rescue crews have located the body of the 3 year old girl who went missing on Tuesday night 25 yards from her house in Danbury, WI.

According to the Burnett County Sheriff Dan Roland, 3 year old Renna Mae Williams wandered away from her house Tuesday night while she was playing with a dog.

Renna was found dead on Wednesday in a slow current canal with three feet of water.

Authorities say that the canal where she was found is a spot where the family has their boat tied up and frequently launches their boat.

Officials say that the dog that the girl was playing with at the time she disappeared was with her the entire time she was missing.

An autopsy will be performed on the body.

Officials say that this is still an open investigation. No other information is being released at the moment.

500 volunteers and multiple law enforcement agencies spent the day looking for Renna.

Authorities were told that the girl apparently wandered away from her home in the village of Danbury, 15 miles north of Siren, WI around 6:30pm.

The search began immediately, with help from local law enforcement and rescue personnel, as well as multiple K-9 units and a Minnesota State Patrol helicopter.

I agree whole heartedly. Before I got to the part about her body being found I sent up a quick prayer that she would be safe and sound and then I saw the next one and just cried a little for her and her family. I have one who is almost 3 and I can't imagine the heartache.

Wisconsin: Missing girl likely died of accidental drowning, autopsy finds

DANBURY, Wis. -- Preliminary autopsy results indicate a 3-year-old Wisconsin girl found dead in a canal near her home died of apparent accidental drowning.

Burnett County medical examiner Mike Maloney said an autopsy was conducted Thursday on the body of Reena Mae Williams.

Maloney said the girl had water in her lungs consistent with normal signs of drowning. He said her body had a couple of small scratches but no trauma or anything suspicious.

Final autopsy results won't be available until four to six weeks when the toxicology report comes back.

Divers found Reena's body Wednesday afternoon in a canal about 25 yards from her home in Danbury, about 100 miles northeast of St. Paul.

Hundreds of volunteers and law officers had searched for the girl after she apparently wandered away from her home Tuesday evening.

Reena Mae Williams' Parents, Jenna Danish And Thomas Jay Williams, Arrested After Daughter's Death

A Wisconsin couple whose young daughter wandered from home and
drowned in a canal during August turned themselves in to police on
Sunday.


Jenna Danish, 33, and Thomas Jay Williams, 44, face charges of child
neglect resulting in death following the death of their 3-year-old, Reena Mae Williams, the Associated Press reports.


Police issued an arrest warrant for the parents on Friday, but when
they arrived to search their Danbury home, nobody was there. They did,
however, make several troubling discoveries.

According to the criminal complaint, the windows facing the canal were covered with sheets.
Officers also found regular and synthetic marijuana, along with
paraphernalia in the home. The complaint also describes the home is
[sic] surrounded on three sides by water without appropriate fences or
safety devices, and that it was not a safe place for a three year old
child.

When Williams disappeared on Aug. 14, more than 100 volunteers searched wooded areas surrounding the family's home, according to KARE.


Neighbors said they would often see the girl wandering around the neighborhood alone, according to the New York Daily News.


Danish and Williams are currently in the Burnett County Jail.

If the neighbors saw the little girl wandering in the woods on a number of occasions then why did they not report the parents to the local family services. This little girl should be in a loving foster home now not dead. Just breaks my heart that parents would not even care where their child is when others have love in their hearts big enough for the little angels.
