Mother, Boyfriend Jailed In Connection With 4-year-Old’s Death

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Charges were expected to be filed in connection with a 4-year-old boy’s death.
The boy’s mother and her boyfriend were in custody at the Knox County Jail on Wednesday evening.
Mount Vernon police said that they received an emergency call on Sunday about an unresponsive boy.
The 4-year-old was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, where investigators said that the boy died.
According to a 911 call placed by the boy’s mother, the boy fell down a set of stairs on Saturday and was not breathing.
During the call to 911, the mother said that he fell down the stairs twice but that he was OK.
The cause of the young boy’s death was not immediately determined.
The Franklin County Coroner’s Office was handling the autopsy.
