Police search for missing girl

The Jennings County Sheriffs' Department is on the lookout for a 6-year-old girl and her mother, who they say have been missing since Monday.

The girl, Hannah Wahlman, is described at having long, dark brown hair, blue eyes, weighs about 50 pounds, is almost 4 feet tall and missing one of her lower front teeth.

She was last seen with her mother, Rachel Wahlman, in a 1999 dark green two-door Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

Deputies: Missing mom, daughter may be in Tri-State

Sheriff’s deputies in Indiana say that a missing girl and her mother may have been spotted in central Ohio, but could be heading west.

According to the Jennings County Indiana Sheriff’s Office, Hannah Wahlman and her mother, Rachel Wahlman, have been missing since July 30.

Hannah is described as a white female, 3 feet 6 inches tall, and weighing 50 pounds. She has dark brown hair and is missing a front tooth.

Hannah and Rachel were spotted at a restaurant in the area of state Route 22 near Circleville on Aug 1, according to investigators.

The pair is believed to be driving a green 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with Indiana license number SWE-157. Authorities said Rachel Wahlman has limited financial resources and may be in the Cincinnati area.

Search For Missing Mother, Daughter Ends With Arrest



The investigation and search for Rachel
and Hannah Wahlman of North Vernon came to an end Thursday night with
the arrest of Rachel Wahlman in Clark County, OH.

According to Jennings County Sheriff
Steve Hoppock, investigators from the Jennings County Sheriff's Office
had developed information that led them to an address where Rachel was
living in New Carlisle, OH. Thursday afternoon, an arrest warrant was
issued for her for auto theft as a Class D felony as a result of the
sheriff's office investigation into her disappearance on July 30.

Hoppock says his officers had been in
contact with investigators from the Clark County, OH Sheriff’s Office
and at 9 p.m. Rachel Wahlman was taken into custody without incident
from a home in New Carlisle. Her daughter, 6-year-old Hannah, was also
at the home and was taken to the sheriff's office by officers. Officers
also found the missing Chevy Monte Carlo at the home during their
investigation. Hoppock says arrangements were being made to have the
father pick up Hannah at the Clark County Sheriff’s Office which is
three hours from Jennings County.

Rachel was incarcerated on the felony
warrant out of Jennings County and is currently being held awaiting
extradition back to Indiana. It is not known if local charges will be
filed in the case by the Ohio agency.

I thought I would add a few pictures. Too often we see more pictures of the purpetrator and not enough of the children. I'm glad she was found safe. Much too often a spouse will kill their kids to keep them from the other.
