NORMAL — Police are looking for information about a former Illinois State University student who vanished somewhere between Hinckley and Normal Sunday afternoon.
The Kane County Sheriff’s Department said Tanner Conroyd, 20, left her home in St. Charles about noon. The department said her father believed she was heading to Normal, but when she did not arrive, the family reported the her missing Sunday evening to the Normal Police Department.
Conroyd was last enrolled at ISU in spring of 2012, but the sheriff's department report states she told her parents she was headed to the school when she left her home.
According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Department, she was seen about 1 p.m. Sunday at a gas station in Sugar Grove. At approximately 1:30 p.m., officials believe her car broke down and she was seen at the Brown Pub in Hinckley where she stayed for about three hours. A witness saw her get into a brown car, possibly a Mustang, driven by an older heavy-set white male with a beard.
Witnesses later reported seeing her at Millennium Park in Chicago. She reportedly spoke to a security guard at around 10:30 p.m. when the park was closing. Conroyd provided the guard her cellphone number so he could call her to make sure she got home.
Her family talked with the security guard when he called later that evening. She was reportedly seen again at the park Monday, but that is the last confirmed sighting of her.
She was wearing a grey sweatshirt with blue Capri pants and gold-framed glasses. She is a white female, 5-foot-6, about 160 pounds with brown hair and green eyes and may have been carrying a red guitar.
Anyone with information, is asked to contact the Kane County Sheriff’s Department at 630-444-1103.

There may have been another sighting of the Kane County woman who went missing on her way to college.
On Thursday morning, Kane County Sheriff’s Lt. Pat Gengler said police believe they have a confirmed sighting of Tanner Conroyd on Tuesday in the Loop downtown. Family and friends are coordinating a search in that area today. They are organizing the search through the “Find Tanner Conroyd” Facebook page and website, findtannerconroyd.wordpress.com .
Conroyd left her father’s home near St. Charles on Sunday. Her family believed she was heading back to school at Illinois State University in Bloomington-Normal. Her family contacted her friends at ISU, but none of them had seen her at the school, police said. Her family reported her missing to police in Normal on Sunday evening.
Police have been able to verify that Conroyd did make several stops on Sunday and Monday. Gengler said Conroyd does not appear to know anyone in Chicago, and had only been into the city once or twice.
“This is totally out of character for her. She’s a very quiet, reserved person,” Gengler said. “She’s not somebody that’s going to be going up to people and start talking.”
According to the webpage, Conroyd’s family believes she does not have a cell phone, money or a wallet with her. Police said Conroyd was wearing a gray sweatshirt with blue Capri pants and gold-framed glasses. She is white, 5-foot-6, about 160 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. She is also believed to have been carrying a red guitar possibly in a soft- sided case, police said.
