GOLDSBORO, N.C. - There's an Amber Alert in effect for 16-year-old Kennedy McLaurin.

Goldsboro Police say he was abducted by four people. Investigators say they aren't sure who those four people are.

They say do have leads on a vehicle that will lead them to Kennedy.

It's a blue older model Buick or Lincoln, last seen traveling north on Bain Street.

Authorities issue Amber Alert for Goldsboro teen

GOLDSBORO, N.C. -- Goldsboro police have issued an Amber Alert for a 16-year-old boy who they say was abducted from his home.

A statement issued Wednesday said Kennedy Fitzgerald McLaurin Jr. was apparently abducted by four men in a blue four-door Lincoln or Buick.

The Goldsboro News-Argus reports that McLaurin was last seen around 1 p.m. Sunday and was reported missing by his mother the next day.

McLaurin is a black male, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 135 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo on his left hand of the letter "K."

Police searching for car in Amber Alert

GOLDSBORO -- Goldsboro authorities are looking for a car in connection with an Amber Alert that was issued for a 16-year-old boy who was reportedly abducted Wednesday.

According to police, Kennedy Fitzgerald McLaurin was last seen Sunday, Sept. 9. Officers began investigating a missing person's report for McLaurin on Tuesday.

They said they got information that McLaurin was abducted from the 700 block of Bain Street in the Woodcrest Housing Community and forced into a late model 1990s bluish/grey 4-door Oldsmobile by three or four unknown men.

McLaurin is described as 5 foot 9 inches tall, 135 pounds, black hair, brown eyes and dark skinned. Both of Kennedy's ears are pierced and he has a tattoo of the initial "K" on his left hand.

Three Arrested

Three people are under arrest on murder charges in conjunction with
the disappearance of Kennedy McLaurin Jr., 16, who vanished on Sept. 9
in Goldsboro, N.C.

Despite the fact that no body has been found, Leonard Joyner, 21,
Jerome Butts, 19, and Kevin Edward Smith, 18, were arrested Friday and
charged with murder. A warrant has also been taken out for arrest of
Curtis Etheridge, 17, also charging him with murder.

“The police department has identified all of the subjects involved in
this case,” Goldsboro Police Sgt. Dwayne Dean told ABC station WTVD-TV, in Raleigh-Durham. “We can assure the public that this is not gang related nor was it random.”

McLaurin, a high school junior from Goldsboro who was described as
having pierced ears and a tattoo of the initial “K” on his left hand,
vanished nearly two weeks ago. It was unlike him to disappear without
word, his parents told WTVD.

“It’s agonizing not knowing,” McLaurin’s mother, Kim Best, told
WTVD. “I haven’t been able to function, hardly do anything — just
waiting around for him to come home.”

Witnesses told police that McLaurin, who was 5 foot 9 inches, 135
pounds, with black hair, and brown eyes, was abducted by four men and
forced into a car in front of a housing project. Police are looking for a
bluish-grey older model Buick or Lincoln.

The community has gathered around the McLaurin family. Hundreds of people attended a rally
Friday night for McLaurin, marching to the Goldsboro Police Department
while officers on bicycles and in patrol cars escorted them.

While investigators have found physical evidence related to the crime
in a farm field, they have still not recovered McLaurin’s body, police
said.

Update: Remains Found In Seven Springs, Sent Off For Identification

GOLDSBORO, N.C. - Goldsboro Police say they've located remains that they
believe are those of a Kennedy McLaurin Jr. The remains have been sent
to Chapel Hill to the state medical examiner for identification. The
discovery was made in the Seven Springs area. We're also told police
have a fourth suspect in custody for McLaurin's death.

Police believe they found missing teen's remains

GOLDSBORO,
N.C. (AP) — Goldsboro police say remains believed to be those of a
kidnapped teenager have been unearthed, and four men are in custody,
charged with murder.
Police said Saturday that they believe authorities found the remains of 16-year-old Kennedy Fitzgerald McLaurin
Jr. on Saturday in the Seven Springs area. The remains were sent to the
state medical examiner in Chapel Hill for identification.
Also
Saturday, a fourth person was charged with murder in McLaurin's death.
All four are being held without bond in the Wayne County Jail, awaiting
first appearance hearings.
Police say McLaurin was kidnapped Sept. 9 by at least three men.
Sgt. Dwayne Dean said Friday that investigators believe McLaurin was killed and that the crime was neither gang-related nor random.
