Updated: 5:05 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 | Posted: 3:17 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2013
Man arrested, child safe following Amber Alert
A man was arrested Friday morning after a boy in his care was reported missing.
An AMBER Alert issued at 3 a.m. today was canceled after Timothy Conatser Jr., 32, was found with his 10-year-old stepson at a Fairborn apartment.
The boy was reported missing by his mother in Huber Heights..
Police said they searched for the vehicle Conaster was driving and found it just before 6 a.m. in the 300 block of East Emerson Avenue.
“We started checking the area periodically throughout the night and ended up finding it again on Wallace Drive,” said Fairborn Officer Joe Pence.
“We started talking with a few neighbors in the area, and eventually
were able to locate the Huber Heights’ suspect, who had that child.”
Conatser was taken into custody without incident, Pence said. He was suspected of taking the boy from a residence on Neptune Lane in Huber Heights. It was believed Conatser was armed with a knife.
Police were unsure what led to the incident Friday morning. Conatser was booked into the Montgomery County Jail pending a felony charge of domestic violence.
The boy was reunited with his mother at the Fairborn police headquarters.
