Police ID body of missing teen

Police are confirming what many already suspected. The body found
yesterday behind a southside apartment complex is that of 14- year-
old Montee Ross. He was reported missing by his mother on Monday.
Alicia Temple says she last saw her son on Sunday when he, her
daughter and her 12-year-old son walked to a store. The younger son
later told her Montee left with a friend and said he would meet up
with the 12-year-old later. Temple's daughter started hearing rumors
at school that Montee had been accidentally shot inside a townhome
and was buried nearby. Police were questioning several residents of
the Kirktown Apartments yesterday.

Boy, 12, charged in 14-yr-old’s death

Posted on: 5:11 pm, April 26, 2013, by Barrett Tryon, updated on: 06:14pm, April 26, 2013

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 12-year-old boy has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and abandonment of a corpse Friday, the Office of the Jackson County Juvenile Officer said.

The 12-year-old is believed to be the younger brother to Montee Ross, 14, who was reported missing on Monday. On Wednesday, police found Ross’ body in a shallow grave on the south side of Kansas City.

In addition, another 16-year-old has been charged with abandonment of a corpse.

Because the boys are underage, information about their cases remain sealed.

Previously Friday, 17-year-old Jonathan Davis was charged with abandonment of a corpse.

According to court documents, Ross was reported missing on Monday. Officers found the 14-year-old’s body on Wednesday in an area near a residence in the 11500 block of Food Lane in south Kansas City.

According to the report, part of Ross’ hand remained exposed.

Witnesses told police Ross was accidentally shot by his younger brother, who faces an involuntary manslaughter charge. Police say Davis told them the three were messing around with a gun and it went off.

Davis tried to dispose of the body by attempting to bury him with another youth, Davis told police. He didn’t call an ambulance or police, Davis added, because he knew Ross was dead.

Prosecutors have requested a bond of $100,000/10 percent.

“I just want to say that no family should feel what I’m feeling. I feel for all the victims who are involved,” said Ross’ mom, Alicia Temple.
