Police: Polk County father charged in 5-week-old's death

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. —
A Polk County man was charged with manslaughter after an autopsy revealed his 5-week-old son suffered from blunt force trauma to the head.
Winter Haven police said Danny Colt Britt, 28, was booked early Friday morning. He's also charged with aggravated child abuse. His first appearance is scheduled for Saturday morning.
Police said Britt called 911 on May 18 when the child was not breathing. The child was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A medical examiner's report stated that a head injury just above the child's left ear could only have been caused by a significant blow to the head. The death has been ruled a homicide.
The child's mother has not been charged.
