Man Accused of Beating, Biting Clermont County Baby Called 911
A 19 year old Clermont County man is out of jail, hours after he was formally accused of abusing an eight-month-old girl. The baby's injuries are so severe she's been in the hospital for more than a week.
Investigators think Dakota Doss of Williamsburg is responsible. He's the boyfriend of the girl's mother.
Local 12's Angela Ingram spoke with the mother of Cataleya Parker, who says the baby is slowly getting better - but her vision has been affected and doctor's are working with the baby to get her left arm moving again.
Doss was watching the baby while her mother was at work. He initially told a 9-1-1 operator that the baby was choking and couldn't breathe. Dispatcher: "Is she breathing?" Doss: "She's like coughing up the food." Dispatcher: "Ok. She's coughing so she is breathing some?" Doss: "She's like barely breathing, I don't know. It's like she's asleep, like half. You know what I mean? I don't know!"
Doss made a frantic 9-1-1 call saying little Cataleya was in distress and going in and out of consciousness. "She's like half awake. She's like sleeping, type deal, but she's breathing."
But investigators believe Doss caused the baby's injuries at his home on Cobb Road in Williamsburg. He's accused of dropping, shaking and biting Cataleya on her inner thigh on Sunday evening while babysitting for his girlfriend. "The injuries involved retinal bleeding, some bleeding on the brain, some multiple bruising, the child's also had some seizures while down at Children's Hospital. The story that we have is that he was dating the child's mother for a period of time. He was alone with the child when this occurred."
Medics took the baby from the house to Mount Orab hospital. but her injuries were so severe she was rushed to Children's Hospital in Cincinnati. Clermont County Sheriff's deputies began investigating and arrested Doss for abusing the baby.
Her mother says she's not sure when Cataleya will be well enough to go home again. "We do get these cases unfortunately. I don't have the statistics on who commits these the most, moms, dads, boyfriends, husbands, but more than we would like to see certainly."
The baby's mother says at this point doctor's don't know if the injuries will have a lasting effect on her.
Doss posted a $100,000 bond and got out of jail on Monday. Doss faces two counts of endangering children. If he's convicted of both charges - he faces up to eleven years in prison.

The biting on the inner thigh disturbs me. Was she sexually abused? Just glad they caught him before it was too late. Although she still might die from injuries. Eleven years is too short for him. William
