4 children - 2 to 10 yo/ Accused: Mother's Boyfriend - James Skiles - Chattanooga TN
The man accused of beating four children has
been arrested. Chattanooga police say they arrested James Skiles
Saturday evening near Hermitage Road in Red Bank. He faces aggravated
child abuse charges. He also faces charges for six other warrants for
burglary and child support. Skiles was booked in the Hamilton County
Jail.
Police say James Skiles ran from
the home after he severely beat two-year-old twins, a seven- year-old,
and 10-year-old boy. Neighbors tell Channel 3 Skiles is the children's
mother's boyfriend.
According to police he began
beating them when they didn't obey him. He ran away before police
arrived, now detectives are asking the public to help them find him.
"She just started yanking on me, telling me to come help her," says Jameika Green.
Green still can't believe what she saw inside her neighbor's home Friday night.
"One of her little boys had bruises where his head had been rammed into the wall," she says.
According to police six children
live at 4905 Jeffrey Lane. Early in the evening one of the older girls
frantically knocked on Green's door.
"When I looked at the 2-year-old I immediately grabbed my phone and called the ambulance," she says.
When police arrived they found a
set of two-year-old twins, a seven-year old and 10-year-old boy
suffering from blunt force trauma. They'd been allegedly brutally
beaten by 34-year-old, James Skiles.
"You would never think a man would do something like that to his girlfriend's kids," Green says.
This is a facebook picture of
Skiles with the children's mother. Green says they've been dating ever
since the family moved in a year ago. She says this isn't the first
time she's seen bruises on the children.
"This isn't the first time he's bruised the children," she says. "For some reason he keeps them locked in the house."
By the time police arrived Skiles had already fled. He's wanted on six outstanding warrants unrelated to the beating.
"The little boy had cigarette burns," Green says. "He had bruises all over his stomach, face and back."
Police haven't said what Skiles
used to beat the children. One suffered a broken leg, two are in the
hospital.
"No child should have to go through this," Green says. "It's just not right."
Green says she's called police before to report abuse, although that hasn't been confirmed.
She says the children's mother was at a job interview when the beating occurred.

Police said a two-year-old boy who was repeatedly punched by his mother's boyfriend had to have emergency surgery for a perforated bowel.

The mother, Melissa Pinion, said she found the boy and his twin sister "covered with bruises" when she returned from a job interview across town on Saturday.
She had left her six children with Jamie Lee Skiles, who is now held on $500,000 bond in connection with attacks on the children.
The mother said two other children, a boy seven and a boy 10, had visible bruises on their eyes. They said Skiles had hit them with his fists.
In the incident at 4905 Jeffrey Lane, said the girl twin's leg was swollen. She said both twins had multiple bruises and scratches.
The children were taken by medics to Children's Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Hospital staff said the girl twin had sustained a fractured femur, broken rib and "multiple bruising on the majority of her body."
Hospital staff said the boy twin had sustained bilateral rib fractures and multiple bruising on his abdomen and back in addition to the perforated bowel.
Police were told that the perforated bowel was caused by blunt force abdominal trauma.
The older two boys were evaluated in the emergency room for minor bruising.
The oldest sibling, a 13-year-old girl, said she came home from school around 4 p.m. and saw the twins and the seven-year-old boy standing, facing the wall, with their arms raised above their heads. She said that whenever one of them would put their hands down, Skiles would punch them with his fists in the trunk area of their bodies.
She said she asked Skiles why he was doing that and he said the twins had peed and pooped in their bed during nap time and the older boy got in trouble at school.
The older sister said she saw Skiles hit the children approximately five times.
She said after Skiles' friend came over to the house, Skiles told the children to go upstairs.
The older sister said the boy twin then began throwing up.
She said Skiles packed his clothes in plastic bags and told her to tell her mother to take the boy twin to the doctor to get him checked out.
She said Skiles then left, and police were called after the mother arrived home.
Skiles is charged with three counts of aggravated child abuse and child abuse and neglect.

Poster's note: How can a mother leave her SIX kids with a boyfriend. It would be hard for anyone to watch six kids all day let alone a man with an abusive background. She should be arrested as well on allowing the abuse to go on.
