(KCEN) -- Copperas Cove police issued a statewide amber alert, on Tuesday, for a girl that went missing more than a week ago.
2-year-old Jaelyn  Johnson was last seen by her grandparents on August 5th.

They have custody of the girl and said Jaelyn's biological mother, Shemeka Denise Johnson, took her from their Copperas Cove home. Police believe she is staying with friends in the Killeen area.

Shemeka is described as black female, 5'4" 165 pounds.

Her daughter is also black with black hair and brown eyes.

The woman is suspected of using heavy narcotics such as Spice and Methamphetamines.

Amber Alert canceled: 2-year-old girl found safe

COPPERAS COVE, Texas -- Copperas Cove police say a missing two-year-old has been found safe. The Amber Alert issued for her has been canceled.

Police say she was taken from her grandparents' house by her mother, Shemeka Denise Johnson, on Aug. 5.

During Shemeka’s last conversation with Jaelyn’s grandparents, she apparently told them she was taking her daughter and ending her cell phone service so she couldn't be tracked.

Police suspected Shemeka of using heavy narcotics and putting her daughter in harm's way. She was believed to be in the Killeen area.

Just before 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, police told KVUE News that Jaelyn Johnson had been found safe. No other details have been released.
