Aurora man could face life in prison for sexually assaulting 3 sisters

AURORA, Colo. — A man was convicted of sexually assaulting three young sisters over the course of several years in Aurora, according to the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office.
On Monday, Rodolfo Cendejas, 48, was charged with several counts of sexually assaulting and abusing the three young girls, according to officials.
Candejas was convicted of assaulting the eldest sister when she was just 13-years-old. Court documents show that when the teen resisted Cendejas, he turned to her 9-year-old sister and sexually assaulted her on numerous occasions and locations for more than one year until she gained the strength to resist him, according to reports.
Authorities said Cendejas then began sexually assaulting the youngest sister who had just turned 10-years-old for two years, until she exposed what he was doing to police in May of 2012.
“I am sickened that this so-called man, Rodolfo Cendejas, destroyed three little girls’ childhoods,” District Attorney George Brauchler said. “They were physically and emotionally traumatized for years, and then had to come into a courtroom full of strangers and relive and describe the years of molestation and suffering.”
Cendejas confessed to sexually assaulting the youngest sister for two years, but told the judge he fondled the second sister and denied assaulting the eldest teen.
He faces 8 years to life in prison. Cendejas’ sentencing is scheduled for October.
“Having worked closely with this family for the past year, we continue to be amazed by the strength and courage these three young girls demonstrated,” deputies Cara Morlan and Amy Ferrin said. “They should be commended not only for speaking up and stopping the abuse, but also for being willing to come before a jury of 12 strangers and describe the most intimate parts of their lives.”
