Mother and Boyfriend Facing Child Abuse Charges

Police arrest a woman and her boyfriend on allegations of child abuse after a seven year old boy is allegedly beaten with a belt.

31 year old Ruby Hernandez and 33 year old Rene Sanchez face child abuse charges after officers found several bruises on the boy.

According to Castle Hills Police, the couple were arrested Thursday night and charged with injury to a child.

On September 12, investigators stated a man picked his son up from school, and called police after the 2nd grader said he had been spanked by his mother and her boyfriend.

Police said he told his dad he was being punished for something that happened at school. A police report also stated the child had been picked up by his ear and the ear was bleeding.

"He was taken to a hospital, checked out and medically cleared," explained Capt. Johnny Siemens.

According to an affidavit, Hernandez told officers she felt horrible and did not realize she had "hit the child (her son) that hard."

Her boyfriend, Sanchez, stated ,"the child bruises easily."

Police are also checking to see if the boy's older sister also suffered any alleged abuse.

Captain Siemens is urging childcare provider, family member, or teacher to contact police, if they believe a child has been abused.
