Investigators said the couple’s 15-year-old daughter managed to call 911 to report the incident. She was found in the front yard of the house with a gunshot wound. Her 11-year-old brother, who also suffered from gunshot wounds, was inside the house.
Both victims were transported via Life Flight to Memorial-Hermann Hospital. They both underwent surgery. They were still in the hospital Wednesday, in stable condition, and expected to recover, deputies said.
Detectives said scene investigation, forensics analysis and interviews conducted indicate Karim Kamdar was the shooter in the case.
They said evidence shows Karim Kamdar used a handgun to murder his wife, and then attempted to kill his daughter and son before turning the gun on himself.
For nearly 12 years, Karim Kamdar rented and operated the Superway Food store in Richmond. But about one year ago, he was forced to pack up and leave. Mrs. Kamdar owned a day care called American Heritage Academy and Child Care in Rosenberg, according to friends.
Child Protective Services officials say they now have custody of the couple’s children and they are trying to get in contact with relatives in Pakistan and India.
