APD Arrests Man on Sexual Abuse Counts Against 3 Children

Anchorage police are investigating whether a man arrested on 10 counts of child sexual abuse Wednesday in connection with at least three children may have had additional victims.

According to a Thursday statement from APD spokesperson Dani Myren, 35-year-old Charles David Brumlow was arrested following an investigation that began June 13, after the department’s Crimes Against Children Unit was contacted about the case.

“Detective (Leonard) Torres was called to investigate a report of sexual abuse after an 11-year-old girl disclosed she had been molested by (Brumlow) while in his care,” Myren wrote. “During the investigation, Detective Torres learned of two additional female juveniles who reported they were also sexually abused by Brumlow. Brumlow was known to all the victims.”

Myren wasn’t immediately available Thursday afternoon for further comment on the case.

Brumlow was taken into custody Wednesday, the same day a warrant was issued for his arrest. He is being held without bail at the Anchorage Jail on six first-degree counts and one second-degree count of sexual abuse of a minor, one count of incest, and two counts of attempted sexual abuse of a minor.

“It is believed that Brumlow had contact and access to other children who may have been abused by Brumlow,” Myren wrote.
