By Igor Derysh on May 6, 2014
An Indiana couple has been arrested after abusing their four-month-old daughter so badly that she had hemorrhaging in her eyes.
Police have arrested 26-year-old Michael Knott and 23-year-old Andi Suddarth after they brought their daughter to the hospital. The hospital contacted the police because the girl had severe brain injuries, blood on her brain, and hemorrhaging in her eyes.
According to reports, the couple says they have no idea how the girl was injured but investigators believe the injuries were sustained in February when she was just one month old. Police say the extent of the injuries may not be clear until the girl is two years old.

HANCOCK COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT Michael Knott, 26, and Andi Suddarth, 23, have lost custody and face neglect charges for alleged beatings of their 4-month-old daughter.
Two Indiana parents accused of neglecting their 4-month-old baby daughter allegedly beat her so badly that the infant had hemorrhaging in her eyes, police say.
The infant girl had serious head injuries, blood on her brain and hemorrhaging of the eyes after parents Michael Knott, 26, and Andi Suddarth, 23, took the girl to the hospital in March, WXIN-TV reported.
Officials contacted police after becoming suspicious about the injuries, the station reported.
The Greenfield couple said they had no idea how the little baby had received the injuries, court documents show. Cops think the child may have also been injured in February, when she was only one month old.
Because of the child’s age, it may be difficult to determine the full extent of the injuries until she is about 2-years-old, according to the news station.
“It was definitely consistent with injuries that were inflicted onto the child and not something that just happened to it,” Capt. Jeff Rasche of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department told WXIN.
The parents covered their faces as they were walked in shackles into a Hancock County Courthouse Monday. One of the parents cursed out a WXIN reporter as she asked about the allegations.
FOX 59 The couple covered their eyes as they were led in shackles into court on Monday.
Suddarth is charged with two counts of felony neglect, while Knott is charged with one count of child neglect.
The baby is reportedly in the care of its great-grandparents.
“No one else was there to speak for the child, so hopefully we have,” Rasche told WXIN.
On his Facebook page, which has several pictures of the little girl, Knott vigorously defends himself and claims the allegations are false.
“Everyone running your mouth about this situation go ahead, my beautiful little girl isn't blind, she's doing great she's laughing cooing, eating, and deff not blind,” he wrote Monday night. “Everything will show in time that none of this is true. You all keeping running your mouths in the end you will all be proven idiots. Everyone that is supporting us and sending US prayers thank you from the bottom of my heart!”
