DAYTONA BEACH -- A man has been arrested in Daytona Beach for leaving his 2-month-old son inside of a vehicle outside of a Home Depot store.
Police responded to the call from a Home Depot employee in regards to the infant being left alone in an unattended vehicle. Police say just a few minutes into the call, the infant's father returned to the vehicle.
The father was identified as 33-year-old Brian Epstein.
The Daytona Beach Fire Department was called to assess the infant's medical condition. DBFD teams said the infant was a little hot, but did medically clear the 2 month old.
According to the police report, officers were able to determine the infant had been left in the car with the windows up for 10 minutes, and immediately arrested Epstein on charges of child neglect.
Officer's did note that Epstein was visibly shaken as a result of the incident, and informed them he had been up since 4 a.m. assisting with the birth of friend's child.
Epstein is being held on a no-bond status at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
The child was left in the care of his mother.
