GRESHAM, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A 4-year-old girl was inside an office where drugs were found during a police search, officers said.

Tracey Charles Nichols, 45, and Orie Marcia Made, 32, both appeared in Multnomah County Circuit Court Thursday afternoon and were charged with first-degree child neglect, delivery and possession of cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine.

Detectives with the Gresham Police Department Special Enforcement Team (SET) have been conducting “livability missions” in the Rockwood area, Officer Adam Baker said.

SET detectives have been focusing their efforts on people selling heroin and methamphetamine, Baker said.

On Wednesday, detectives executed a search warrant at an auto repair shop located at 18230 East Burnside Street. According to court documents, Nicholas and Made are co-owners of the repair shop.

Detectives made controlled purchases of drugs from people on the streets, Baker said. The investigation led police to Made and Nichols at the auto shop.

When police went in to serve the warrant, Made’s 4 year old daughter was in the office of the business where the drugs were being kept, Baker said. The repair shop was located within 1,000-feet of a school zone, police said.

The child was taken into custody, but then released to a family member.

Court documents reveal Nicholas’ first conviction was reported at when he was 16. He has more than 25 felony convictions, the report states.

Made told officials that she has been getting outpatient treatment for an addition to opiates, the report states.

Both suspects will be back in court August 29, 2014.
