Prince George’s County police Tuesday continued to hunt for Davon Antwan Wallace, the Landover man wanted in connection with the weekend slaying of a 3-year-old District girl.
“We’ve really been focused on trying to connect with his family, friends or anyone who has said even more than a ‘hello’ to this guy to find out where he is hiding,” said Lt. William Alexander, a county police spokesman.
Knijah Amore Bibb’s family was visiting friends at a house in Landover on Sunday when a fight broke out between two people over clothing, police said. Wallace, 25, left and returned with a gun, shooting into the second floor of the house from the yard, authorities said.
Police said one of about a half-dozen bullets fired that afternoon struck and killed the girl, who would have turned 4 next month.
Alexander warned that people who know of Wallace’s whereabouts and are “harboring a known felon” could face charges themselves. “If anyone feels allegiance toward this suspect, they should reevaluate how they’re treating that, come forward and do the right thing,” he said.

A search of online court records in Maryland shows that Wallace has a criminal history. He pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary in 2008 and first-degree burglary in 2009. In 2013, he pleaded guilty to drug possession.
The entire police department, not just homicide investigators, have been working to find the man accused of killing Knijah, Alexander said. Homicide detectives have barely slept or gone home, fueled by a “sense of moral outrage” over the girl’s death, he said.
“For all of them, they’ve been personally and emotionally invested in trying to find the guy responsible for this,” Alexander said.
As detectives continued to search for Wallace, friends and relatives set up a fundraising Web site to help pay for funeral costs.
“Please Help With The Memorial Of Knijah Amore Bibb,” says the Web site, which features a photo collage of the girl. It also says, “Even $1 Counts.” The fundraising goal is $5,000. As of Tuesday afternoon, about a dozen people had donated more than $300.
“My family is so hurt,” Brenda Bibb said of her granddaughter’s death. The family has been making funeral arrangements and planning a candlelight vigil, but details were not available Tuesday.
There is a $25,000 reward available for information leading to an arrest in the case. Police are asking anyone who may have information about Wallace’s whereabouts to call 866-411-TIPS (8477). Callers can remain anonymous.

WASHINGTON (WJLA/AP) - The man who allegedly shot and killed a toddler in Landover, Md. last month was arrested in D.C. on Tuesday, Prince George's County police said.
Davon Antwan Wallace, 25, of Landover, was captured at an apartment in the District.
He is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 3-year-old Knijah Amore Bibb. There had been a $45,000 reward out for his capture.
Authorities have said the girl was an unintended victim in the shooting.
She was shot after a fight broke out between Wallace and a resident of a home in Landover where she was visiting. Police said Wallace fired shots at the house Aug. 10, and that one bullet hit Knijah.
It was not clear if Wallace had an attorney and no other details involving the arrest were immediately released.
