Queens judge slams convicted triple-murderer as 'vile and despicable person,' says he deserves to be executed as killer is sentenced to 45 years in prison

A Queens judge told a triple murderer he deserved the “electric chair or the gas chamber” — before sentencing the deranged dad to 45 years in prison Friday.
Queens Supreme Court Justice Kenneth Holder’s withering attack on Miguel Mejia, 29, marked a dramatic final chapter in a crime that shocked the city.
“You are, without a doubt, a vile and despicable person and it is truly difficult to find words to describe how sickened the people in this courtroom are at the sight of you,” Holder told Mejia, who confessed to butchering his wife and two tiny daughters.
“You have a committed a most unimaginable crime, one that shocks the conscience of anyone that hears about it. Even the most hardened criminals who walk in and out of this courtroom are shocked by what you did.”
Holder, his gaze fixed on Mejia, was just warming up.
“How truly fortunate you are that you chose to commit this atrocity here in this state of New York at a time when the death penalty is no longer an option for prosecutors to consider,” added the judge, who has three sons.
Quote :The person who invented the electric chair or the gas chamber must certainly have had you in mind when they designed them
“For I truly believe that the person who invented the electric chair or the gas chamber must certainly have had you in mind when they designed them. And given the opportunity I'm sure there'd be a line of people tripping over each other to pull the switch.”
Mejia, wearing an orange jumpsuit, showed little emotion throughout the judge’s riveting diatribe.
But earlier, he asked for forgiveness from the family of his slain wife, Deisy Garcia, 21, and slaughtered daughters: 2-year-old Daniela and 1-year-old Yoselin.
"First and foremost, I would like to ask God for forgiveness,” Mejia said.
“And secondly I'd like to ask forgiveness from the entire family. I know that this sentence is not enough for me to pay for what I've done. I ask forgiveness for the horrible damage I have caused. And that is all I have to say."
“How truly fortunate you are that you chose to commit this atrocity here in this state of New York at a time when the death penalty is no longer an option for prosecutors to consider,” said Judge Kenneth Holder.
Mejia’s rampage on Jan. 14 stunned even veteran lawmen.
The jealous husband flew into a rage after returning home from a boozy night out and finding a Facebook photo of his wife with another man on her phone.
Mejia grabbed a pair of kitchen knives, marched into the couple’s bedroom and slashed away at Garcia who was awakened by the sight of her seething husband.
During the attack, Mejia twisted one of the knives in Garcia’s side with such force the blade broke.
Then Mejia walked into his daughters’ room. He gave them a hug and a kiss — and then turned his blades onto his little girls.
Queens Supreme Court Justice Kenneth Holder told Meijia he was lucky he didn’t get the death penalty.
Mejia later told cops he butchered his daughters because he lacked car seats to them on the lam.
The monster dad was arrested in Texas two days after his crime as he was attempting to flee to his native Mexico.
The crime was so brutal Queens District Attorney Richard Brown described it as one of the most disturbing of his 23-year career.
Mejia pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree manslaughter last month.
Before Mejia was led away in handcuffs Friday, the judge delivered a final parting shot.
“Now you have to live, day after day with the image of you murdering your wife and your two little daughters. Your two beautiful daughters,” Holder said.
“And it is my hope that that memory will cause you to lose whatever sanity you still happen to possess.”
