Investigators with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Department revealed Tuesday that 19-day-old Ellorah Rose Warner, whose father stands accused of murder in her death, died as a result of blunt force trauma.
“Her cause of death is homicide by blunt force trauma,” coroner’s spokesman Fred Corral said Tuesday.
The infant’s father, Matthew Brendan Warner, 30, remains in custody charged with murder, assault of a child causing death, torture, oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child under 10 years old, and aggravated sexual assault of a child.
According to the criminal complaint filed against him by prosecutors, each of the crimes occurred on Jan. 23 — the day mother Tawni Wallis left baby Ellorah with her husband.
That evening, Warner and Wallis went to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station to report their daughter missing. On the morning of Jan. 24, Warner led deputies to an area where the infant’s body was found in the cab of a pickup truck at a Newhall park-and-ride lot.
Warner pleaded not guilty to the charges against him March 12 in San Fernando Superior Court. He is scheduled to appear back in court April 28.
Warner faces a maximum penalty of life in state prison if convicted of all charges.
