Book Deal for the Grandparents?
Last week Cindy Anthony, and her son, Lee, were deposed by the state in the Casey Anthony case. Casey is Cindy’s daughter, and Lee’s brother, and is accused of murdering her toddler daughter, Caylee.George Anthony was deposed on Wednesday, and appeared nervous as he prepared to be questioned by the prosecutor’s office.Kathy Belich of WFTV asked George several questions about his nervous demeanor and also asked Anthony family attorney, Brad Conway, about a rumored book deal.Sometime last year, Cindy Anthony said she was considering a book deal. Recently, a source told WFTV that the Anthony’s, their private investigator, and their attorney were negotiating a package book deal with Simon and Schuster, which the report noted is owned by CBS.The tipster, who WFTV claimed has been correct in the past, said George and Cindy Anthony, private investigator Dominic Casey, who claimed he was
talking to a psychic while being videotaped in the wooded area where Caylee’s remains were later found, and Brad Conway, the family’s attorney, traveled to New York recently to talk with major book publisher Simon Schuster.Belich said to Conway, “I heard that you, George, Cindy and Dominic Casey went to New York and met with Simon and Schuster recently about a book deal.”Conway replied, “I wouldn’t comment on anything personal like that. I don’t know. I couldn’t comment on it, Kathi.”Belich asked, “Why not?”Conway said, “There’s no reason to.”Belich persisted, “Is it true?”“I’m not gonna say whether it’s true or not true,” Conway said. There has been great speculation as to how George and Cindy were surviving financially, and on Wednesday, George said neither he nor Cindy was employed. The foundation they founded, The Caylee Marie Anthony Foundation, just received its tax exempt status, and predicts it will collect less than $25,000 in 2009.
