An autopsy report
released today for a murdered teenager who was found dead in the Eno
River in March states the 16-year-old girl died from Asphyxia due to
strangulation.



The autopsy reveals
that Mylin Tierra Bullock had signs of strangulation injuries as well
as blunt force injuries and abrasions to the face, chest and abdomen.
The report also revealed that Bullock’s body suffered thermal injuries
to her neck, back and legs. Bullock also suffered charring to her
head, neck and upper chest and her hair was singed.
Authorities say two fishermen found Bullock's body in the parking lot at a nature preserve along the Eno River.
Someone called police shortly after 7:10 a.m. on March 21 reporting
a female body was found in a field off Old Oxford and Snow Hill roads.
The man accused of killing Bullock is 32-year old Jeffery H. Gist, Bullock’s stepfather. He remains in jail without bond.
Durham district court judge Brian Wilkes said bond could be
considered once the District Attorney's office decided whether or not
it would pursue the death penalty for the crime, though no timeframe
was discussed.
Bullock was a student at Northern High School in Durham.

Durham, N.C. — The stepfather of a Northern High School student pleaded guilty Thursday to strangling the girl in March.

The beaten and burned body of Mylin Bullock, 16, was found in a dirt parking lot off Old Oxford and Snow Hill roads on March 21.

Jeffrey H. Gist, 33, of Durham, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Bullock's death. He told investigators that he had strangled his stepdaughter, put her body in a Dodge Stratus and drove to some woods, where he dumped the body.

Gist was sentenced to 18 to 23 years in prison.
