Police says a local man who kidnapped his two children has been
arrested at the Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport,
Pa. Police says Ronald Crowe, 42, of Meridian, took his
two children from their Caldwell home on August 10th for a trip. They
were supposed to be returned to their mother by August 21st, but police
say the children didn't come home.
They say Crowe had contacted the children's mother and told her he was not bringing them home. Police were able to track Crowe through credit card purchases and
learned his whereabouts. Officers found his car at the ballpark today
and waited for Crowe to return to the vehicle. He was arrested along
with his mother Marianne Brumbaugh. The pair were traveling together. Crowe is charged with second degree kidnapping after a warrant was
issued for his arrest. His mother is charged with aiding and abetting a
kidnapping. The two children are Jade, 11 and Tyler, 8,
are now in police custody awaiting their return to Idaho. Their mother
is planning to travel to Pennsylvania to get the Crowe children.
Ronald Crowe, 42
Caldwell Police said Crowe has a past history of domestic violence. An Amber Alert was not issued in this instance because of the timeline
and the knowledge of Crowe's possible whereabouts, according to police.

A cross-country family vacation for an Idaho father, his mother and
his two school-age children ended abruptly Thursday night at the Howard
J. Lamade Stadium in South Williamsport when both adults were arrested
on charges of parental kidnapping."I have to tell you, it's
heartbreaking for us. We don't like splitting up families. It's very
unfortunate," South Williamsport police Det. Sgt. Terry O'Connell said
soon after Ronald Gene Crowe Jr., 42, and his mother, Mariann
Brumbaugh, 66, both of Meridian, Idaho, a suburb of Boise, were taken
into custody.Crowe and Brumbaugh were fugitives wanted by the
Canyon County Sheriff's Department in Idaho because Crowe had failed to
return his 12-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son to their mother by
Aug. 17, O'Connell said."He was given custody of the children on Aug. 7 and was to return them (to Canyon County) on Aug. 17," O'Connell said.Crowe,
his mother and the two children "had been to Florida, traveled through
Georgia and came up the Coast after spending some time in Myrtle Beach,
(S.C.)," O'Connell said.Crowe and his mother arrived in the
region on Thursday so they and the children could enjoy some of the
Little League World Series games, O'Connell said investigators learned.Warrants
for the arrests of Crowe and his mother were filed this week, and their
names were entered into the National Crime Information Center network.
Idaho sheriff 's deputies have charged each of them with non-custodial
parental kidnapping."There is absolutely no indication that
these kids were in any danger at any time. They were very happy to be
with their father," O'Connell said. When Crowe used a debit card
in the Allenwood area about 4:15 p.m., that alerted Idaho authorities
to his whereabouts, O'Connell explained. "He was being tracked,"
O'Connell said, adding that within 15 minutes, a bulletin was
dispatched to several police departments in the region, describing the
Lincoln Town Car Crowe was believed to be driving?Since he had
two children with him, investigators thought there was a good chance
that he would be attending the World Series games, O'Connell said.
Police and stadium security detail began looking for his car and
spotted it parked in the lot of the Little League Headquarters complex
about 5:15 p.m., O'Connell said.Within the hour, Brumbaugh and
her granddaughter came to the parked car. Officers took the grandmother
into custody and then soon arrested Crowe when he was seen with his son."We
were very sensitive as to how we handled this with the children,"
O'Connell said. The children were turned over to caseworkers of the
county's Children and Youth Department, which took responsibility for
returning the children to their mother."He had permission to
take the children out of state, but he had to have them back home by
Aug. 17, according to the court order," O'Connell said of Crowe."He
told the children's mother that he was taking them to Hawaii and that
he was getting married. The mother found out that he had lied to her.
He never took them to Hawaii and never got married," O'Connell said.Crowe
and his mother were each arraigned before District Judge James H.
Sortman on borough police charges of fugitive from justice. Crowe was
jailed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail while his
mother was jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail."In situations like these, it's often the children who suffer," O'Connell said.If Crowe and Brumbaugh fight extradition, they will have a hearing in county court within five to eight days, O'Connell said.
