CRYSTAL SANCHEZ - 14 yo - Porterville CA
The mother of a missing Porterville teen is asking for community help in finding her daughter.
Martha Sanchez reported her daughter missing Aug. 29 to the
Porterville Police Department, but an investigation has yielded no
results. The teenager has run away before, but never for this long,
her mother Martha Sanchez said.
According to Sergeant Jake Castellow, Crystal Sanchez has run away nearly 20 times before.
“It looks like she’s trying to avoid law enforcement detection,” he said.
Crystal Sanchez is 5 feet two inches tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen in the 100 block of North F Street.
Martha Sanchez said she does not believe the police are looking for her daughter.
But Castellow said “the case is under investigation.”
When a detective searches for a habitual run a away, he contacts all the people associated with her.
“Not only in this specific case, but with any habitual runaway, it overloads the investigator,” he said.
Unless the missing person is at risk, disabled, or missing under an unknown circumstance, all the cases go to one detective.
Castellow could not estimate how many habitual runaways the
Porterville detective assigned to these types of cases is currently
managing.
To help a detective find a runaway, Castellow suggested parents call authorities immediately.
“Usually people wait a day to call, but it makes it harder,” he said.
