Re: CAROLINE TURNER - 14 yo - Plantation FL
Today police are still searching for a 14-year-old girl with a form of
bipolar disorder whose father says she ran away from home last week.
"She is not with any friend, any boyfriend, anyone who we know," said
her father, David W. Turner. "Police have looked through every possible
lead, they have run out of leads."
Caroline Turner reportedly ran away from her home around 4 p.m. on
Wednesday, police said. She was last seen on the 400 block of Northwest
87th Lane in Plantation.
Turner, who is a gifted student taking advanced placement classes at
Nova High School, ran away with $12 in her pocket, four changes of
clothes, and a gift card with a small amount of money on it, her father
said. The teen had been diagnosed with a form of bipolar disorder in
January of this year.
"I don't have a problem with anyone knowing my daughter has bipolar disorder," Turner said. "It's a medical disease."
She had outlined her plan to run away in her diary, which police and
her father have read for clues. In the 10 days before her
disappearance, she became increasingly unstable, her father said.
"What's dangerous about where we are now is that her meds are very
critical. ... She would be completely vulnerable right now," David
Turner, 55, said.
The teen had tried to run away earlier this month, and her father said
she had been found by police with two men in their early 20s who are
not believed to be involved in this latest disappearance.
"What's bad about this right now is that with her bipolar disorder, her judgment gets off," David Turner said.
Since her disappearance, she has not tried to communicate with her friends or family online or through phone calls, Turner said.
"Raising children is difficult. We all bring them in bright-eyed and
you try and make the best plans for them, but everyone has free will,"
he said. "The challenges of having a child with bipolar disorder
magnify that."
