A Roscoe father fights to get his two-year-old daughter back home after
his ex-wife allegedly took the toddler from him overseas in April.
This week, Jeffery Turner got some good news that his little girl Sophia is OK.
But there's still lots of work ahead before she's back in the United
States.
Turner is working with everyone from the FBI to federal legislators, doing everything he can to get his little girl back home.
Turner says Friday marks 172 days since Sophia's been gone. He's since set up a website to help get her back.
He says his now ex-wife originally took the girl to her home country in
the Republic of Moldova, between the Ukraine and Romania, to renew her
passport.
But she never came back and allegedly kept Sophia with her overseas, hiding out on
some occasions and allegedly offering ransoms to give the girl back.
On Thursday, Turner received a letter from the U.S. Embassy, saying the girl is still with his ex-wife and doing fine. But it's still hard not having her home.
"It's horrible. I mean Sophia is my baby girl. It's really hard for all of us
to get over the fact that Sophia's not around. She was an active child,
real life of the house," Turner said.
Turner says a Winnebago County Judge granted him custody of Sophia in July.
He's had two chances to see her overseas but was unable to bring her
back.
Turner's getting some help from Congressman Don Manzullo's office. Manzullo's spokesman
confirmed Friday night that they are trying to assist Turner as much as
they can.
Turner is hosting a fundraiser next Saturday night in Dixon. They're hoping for
donations that would help with the expenses in getting Sophia back.
The event is a Spaghetti Supper at the Lost Lake Community Center, 404 Lake Court in Dixon. It runs from 5 to 8 p.m.

IS HOME!!!







SOPHIA IS MISSING FOUNDATION NOTICE:

On October 29th 2009
Olga Civartetcaia agreed and signed before the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau
Moldova a joint parenting agreement and accepted terms of divorce.

On
November 9th 2009 Olga Civartetcaia and Sophia Vivian
Civartetcaia-Turner returned to Chicago in accordance to the agreement.

On
November 17th 2009 by default, the divorce was accepted in Republic of
Moldova.

SOPHIA IS FINALLY HOME!!!!

The U.S. Embassy has
forwarded a copy of the agreement to T.J. Flynn at the Department of
State.

I thank everyone for the help and the assistance through
this terrible 7 month family tragedy.
