Authorities say they are searching for a family of four who have been missing for more than a week.The
El Dorado County Sheriff's Office says Sarah Jean Smith and her
boyfriend Jason James McClellan were last seen Oct. 20 with 7-year-old
Joshua Bargus and 1-year-old Kylie Jean Jus.The sheriff's office
says the couple had gone to pick up the boy with the 1-year-old in the
car, and they haven't been heard from since. A relative reported them
missing three days later.
They were in a 2004 silver Honda civic. The relative told authorities that the family did not have plans for a trip.
Smith is 28 years old and McClellan is 40.
The family is from the Georgetown area, northeast of Sacramento.Authorities say
there are no signs that foul play was involved but the family could be at risk.

A family of four reported missing from the Georgetown area made a
similar abrupt departure from the Brentwood area three or four weeks
ago, El Dorado County sheriff's officials say.

Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Brian Golmitz
said there is no evidence of foul play, but the family is considered
"at risk" because they disappeared with no notice to family and left
behind children's clothing and toys.

He also said searchers also have found no evidence that the family's
vehicle ran off into any of the steep canyons off some roads in the
area.

Golmitz said Sarah Jean Smith, 28, her boyfriend Jason James McClellan,
40, and two children had been staying with Smith's mother near
Georgetown since leaving the Contra Costa County community. Relatives
in El Dorado County reported the family missing Oct. 23 after they
failed to return to the home on Staghorn Lane Oct. 20.

Golmitz said the family is considered "at risk" because they
disappeared with no notice to family and left behind children's
clothing and toys. He said Smith had been involved in some domestic
issues with an estranged or former spouse in the Brentwood area, but
Brentwood police had met with that individual, who cooperated with the
inquiry.

Smith, McClellan and Smith's mother reportedly had argued shortly before they went missing, Golmitz said.

Smith, McClellan and a 15-month-old child were last seen driving to Georgetown Elementary School Oct. 20 to pick up Joshua Todd Bargus, age 7. They were driving a 2004 silver Honda Civic with no license plates.

Golmitz said the California Highway Patrol
made a flyover of the rugged Georgetown area Tuesday and the Sheriff's
Department's Search and Rescue coordinator drove the area looking for
possible evidence the car had gone off the road. Neither search turned
up any sign of the vehicle.

The FBI and several missing persons organizations also are assisting in the search, he said.

Neither Smith nor McClellan have bank accounts, so investigators have been unable to trace them via credit card or other financial transactions, Golmitz said.

Descriptions of the four are as follows:

-Sarah Jean Smith is white, 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with long curly brown hair and brown eyes.

-Joshua Todd Bargus is white, 4 feet tall, weighing 70 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes.

-Kylie Jean Just is white, 2 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 25 pounds, with curly blond hair and hazel eyes.

-Jason James McClellan is white, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

friends in Antioch and Smith reportedly called officials after a friend
saw on television that they were reported missing.
Earlier, the sheriff's office had said the couple went to pick up the boy with
the 1-year-old in the car, and weren't heard from since.
