Hearing no news is the hardest part.
Friends and family of Jarib Bennett, 34, Sasha Davis, 32, and her 1-year-old
daughter, Selah Davis, drove from New York City to Rochester on
Saturday in hopes of bringing more attention to their lost loved ones,
who were last spotted in this area on Feb. 19, 2008.Bennett,
a New Jersey resident, and Davis, a Bronx resident, were in town then
to visit a mutual friend. After the visit, however, they were never
seen again. Their rental vehicle was discovered on Genesee Street, near
the area of Genesee Valley Park.Friends
have paid for a billboard on West Broad Street with three large
pictures of the missing people, along with their height and weight
descriptions and a notice about a $10,000 reward."The
billboard will hopefully keep this situation fresh in everyone's mind
because we can't forget that they are missing. We need to do what it
takes to get them home safe," said Soyeni Forbes, a family friend, who
was in town to speak with police about the case.Both
Bennett and Davis have significant people in their lives waiting for
them. Davis has a 10-year-old child back in the Bronx, while Bennett
has a wife in New Jersey waiting to hear something after nearly two
years."People need to think of this like what would they do if their family member were
missing?" said Tricia Ann McIntosh, another friend who drove down
Saturday.The friends believe that someone in the community knows something, so they came into town for a direct plea.
"Nobody has seen or heard from them, and we want people to please come forward
if they have information," said McIntosh. "We don't know what happened
that day, we don't know what led to their disappearance, but all we
know is that they never left Rochester."
