KAI'DEN TERRY LEE - 7 Weeks (2009) - Tulsa OK
TULSA, OK -- 18-year-old Dominique Lagail Lee was charged with
the First-Degree Murder of her seven-week-old baby boy on December 31st.
Lee is already in custody due to a prior robbery arrest and has an
initial court date of January 5th. Judge Kurt Glassco has been assigned to the case.
Officers with the Tulsa Police Department started their
investigation into the death of Kai'den Terry on September 27th.
Officers responded to the 6900 block of South Trenton Avenue where the
child was found unresponsive and pronounced dead.
Lee told detectives she did not know what happened to her baby.
A story detectives have heard from Lee before.
According to police, in 2007, another one of Lee's children, a
6-week-old boy, Amontre Ray, was found dead. Lee Told police in that
case she had left the room and returned to find the baby unresponsive.
Police say Kai'den had minor bruising on his lower legs near his
ankles, but otherwise did not have any obvious external injuries to
suggest a cause of death.
An autopsy by the Medical Examiner revealed a bruise on the left
side of the baby's head with two subdural hemorrhages, according to
Tulsa Police.
Child Crisis Detectives then interviewed Dominique Lee again on
December 8th, while she was in custody on unrelated robbery charges.
Police say that's when Lee admitted that on the night of Kai'den's
death, she was upset due to a lengthy text message argument with
Kai'den's biological father. Police say Dominique admitted that she
grabbed Kai'den by the ankles, pulled him off the end of the bed and
threw him head first onto the floor. Lee told detectives that Kai'den
then stopped breathing.
According to police, Kai'den Terry's death is classified as Tulsa's 67th homicide of the year.

Tulsa woman pleads guilty in killing of baby

A 19-year-old Tulsan pleaded guilty Monday to murdering her infant son.
Dominique Lagail Lee faces a life sentence - either with or without parole possible - when she is sentenced April 27 by District Judge William Kellough.
Without any agreement with prosecutors to govern her punishment, she pleaded guilty to the first-degree murder of Kai'den Terry. The baby was 48 days old when he was fatally injured Sept. 27, 2009, the charge states.
Tulsa County prosecutors maintained that Lee, then 18, used unreasonable force and inflicted a blunt trauma injury to her baby's head at their apartment in the 6900 block of South Trenton Avenue.
A detective's affidavit asserts that Lee grabbed the child's legs, pulled him off a bed, and threw him to the floor head-first. When interviewed, she admitted to being upset when she threw Kai'den to the floor, police reported.
A person who is sentenced to prison for life with parole for murder must serve 38 years and three months before being eligible for parole.
At a sentencing hearing, defense lawyers could ask Kellough to suspend some part of Lee's life term.
Lee has spent more than 15 months in the Tulsa Jail since being arrested Dec. 7, 2009, on two as-yet-unresolved counts of robbery with a firearm, records show. She was charged Dec. 31, 2009, with murdering Kai'den, records show.
The baby's death being determined a homicide re-kindled an investigation into the May 2007 death of another child of Lee's who died under suspicious circumstances, police said. Amontre Ray, who was 6 weeks old, died while in Lee's care at a Tulsa residence, according to police.
In that matter, she told police she left the room and returned to find that Amontre was not breathing. A medical examiner performed an autopsy and classified Amontre's death as of undetermined cause. No natural diseases were identified to explain it, and no charges have been filed in connection with that death.
When interviewed in 2007, Lee said she awakened with Amontre crying next to her in bed. She said she tried to give him a bottle but he didn't want it, police reported.
Lee said she "laid Amontre on her chest and thought she might have dozed off with her arms around him," a police affidavit states. "A little while later, she woke up and Amontre was lying on his side facing her."
Lee told police that she left Amontre for five to 10 minutes before she discovered that he was unresponsive, according to the affidavit.
