MANCHESTER, N.H. — Manchester police are asking the public for help in finding a missing 13-year-old girl.
Police say Lindsey Young was last seen around noon on Sunday at her home.
Police say efforts to reach the girl through her cell phone have been unsuccessful.There’s no evidence of foul play and police say it appears Lindsey
ran away,
but because of the weather and the length of her absence
there’s reason for concern.
Police say that a "A Child is Missing" alert system has been
activated.
It sent hundreds of messages to people near Lindsey’s home.
Anyone who has seen Lindsey is asked to call the Manchester police.

MANCHESTER – Hundreds of city residents are receiving calls asking them to help police find a missing 13-year-old girl. Police

Columbus St. who has not been seen since noon Sunday when she left her
59 Columbus St. home. Investigators conducted an extensive
search for the teen yesterday, going to multiple locations and talking
to her friends but still could not find her, said Detective Chris
Sanders.

Foul play is not suspected, he said, and at this time it appears Young ran
away from home. Still, police say there are safety concerns for the
teen given the freezing weather and the length of time she has been
gone. On Sunday, Young texted her mother when she left but has
not contacted her since. Attempts to reach her by cell phone have been
unsuccessful. "A Child is Missing" alert system, based in
Florida, involves sending recorded messages by telephone to hundreds of
residents living within the vicinity of Young's home. The recorded
message is meant to provide information about Young with the hope that
someone might have observed or had contact with her and can help police
find the teen. Young was last seen wearing a red sweater, blue or gray jeans,
Nike sneakers. Her hair was tied in a bun.Anyone with information regarding
Young is asked to call police immediately at 668-8711.

MANCHESTER – A 13-year-old reported missing over the weekend was found
late Monday afternoon in a Concord Street apartment, police said.Lindsey Young,
of 59 Columbus St., was reported missing Sunday, and was the
subject of an "A Child is Missing" alert system that involved telephone
calls to hundreds of city residents. She had last made contact with her
mother through a text message about noon on Saturday, said police Lt.
Jim Soucy.Soucy said police developed information during their investigation that led
them to 286 Concord St. They found Lindsey at about 5 p.m.
"She was with a friend. She didn't want to go home," Soucy said. She was
found with another juvenile, a male, who was taken into custody on a
juvenile detention order, which is similar to an arrest warrant, Soucy
said.Foul play was never suspected, and Young was always believed to be a runaway.Soucy
said teenagers run away all the time. But police decided to mount a
search, given Young's age and her believed lack of winter clothing -- a
sweater, jeans and a pair of sneakers.Police had a frank discussion with Young
before turning her over to her mother's custody, Soucy said.
No criminal charges are expected to stem from the incident, he said.
