Unidentified Teen Girl - Rockland County/Monsey NY
Poster's Note: This is my original post on this story which is now connected to the story about the little girl abandoned at the gas station. It was listed under Unresolved Cases
MONSEY — The charred body of a teenage girl was found in Manny Weldler
Park early this morning in the second apparent homicide in Rockland in
three days.
Police have not yet identified the victim, according to Ramapo police Lt. Brad Weidel.Investigators
are contacting local schools as well as going through missing person
reports throughout the region to see if anyone reported missing matches
the victim, authorities said.Ramapo police will hold a press conference about the homicide at 4 p.m. today at Town Hall.Police and firefighters were called to the town of Ramapo park at 5:30 a.m. to investigate a report of a fire."We discovered there was a burning body," Weidel said.Police don't know if the victim was killed in the park or elsewhere."We're waiting for the autopsy to be performed," Weidel said.Ramapo
police will hold a press conference about the homicide at Town Hall
later today, said Town Supervisor Chris St. Lawrence, who was at the
scene early this morning.Police
are searching the town park located off West Maple Avenue for clues.
Investigators were also sifting through snow banks near homes on Thomas
Court, adjacent to the park, for evidence.Neighbor Deenie Susskind said she saw investigators pick up an object — possibly a shoe — that appeared to be bloody."I'm
horrified," she said as she stood outside near the park, holding the
hand of her young son. She said she often takes her children to the
park to play. But she said she won't do that anymore until police find the person who committed the crime. The victim's body was on the ground in the parking lot near the entrance to the park. Police covered it with a yellow tarp. When the tarp was removed briefly, a small, charred body could be seen.Investigators
from Ramapo, Spring Valley, the Rockland Sheriff's Department and
police dogs from Suffern and Clarkstown were in the park searching for
evidence. An assistant district attorney from the Rockland District
Attorney's office was also at the crime scene.
Investigators fanned out through the park, passing the tennis courts
and ballfields to look for clues. Investigators could also be seen
searching through trash bins and shoveling mounds of snow and dirt.
Police cordoned off the park with yellow crime scene tape. Curious
onlookers were turned away by police at the entrance to the park,
formerly Viola Park, which which was renamed in 1994 for a former
Ramapo town board member. The park will be reopened to the public later today, St. Lawrence said."People
can feel very safe using the park," he said. "I have great confidence
in our detective force and police department and I appreciate all the
help from the county Sheriff's Department, Spring Valley, Suffern,
Clarkstown and everyone else."

No ID Yet For Girl Abandoned In Delaware
Police Say They Have Received Several Tips
NEWARK, DE - Police said they have
received several tips but they still don't know the identity of the
toddler abandoned in a Delaware gas station's bathroom over the weekend. The child was found crying Sunday afternoon in the men's room of a Shell gas station located at 804 S. College Ave. in Newark. Police want you to take a good look at her picture. She's about 2-years-old and was wearing a purple shirt under her coat. Doctors said she's in good health, but she's too young to tell police her name or where she lives. The child was in foster care Monday night. If you have any information, call Newark police.

Newark Police are trying to determine the identity of a toddler who
was left inside a men's restroom at the Shell gas station on South
College Avenue on Sunday afternoon.
The abandoned girl, who is believed to be about two years old, was
found by a customer who heard cries from inside the bathroom. Cpl. Paul
Keld said the girl's limited vocabulary is making it difficult to
figure out her identity.
" What she is telling us is not helping us identify who she is or
where she came from so right now, we're focusing on the calls we've
received from the people who have seen and heard about this story and
we're trying to identify her family and who she is through that
information right now. "

They have released a video of the little girl. Still nobody has come forward. They say none of the tips they have had have panned out so I guess she's not Masaraha.
http://www.delawareonline.com/section/videonetwork?bctid=68228446001
“Any tips that they have gotten up to this point have not panned out,” Newark police Lt. Brian Henry said today. The
girl, believed to be about 2 years old, remains with a foster family,
which has two children about her age. State authorities said she is
adjusting.Joseph Smack, spokesman for the Division of
Family Services, said the agency would be providing a video tape of the
child later today.“Just to get some live action clips to help in the search,” he said. The girl was found crying inside the restroom at the Shell service station at 804 S. College Ave.Newark
police said the toddler had her hair pulled up on top of her head and
was wearing a puffy tan winter coat over a purple shirt with a small
flower print on it. She also was wearing a diaper and blue jeans with a
pink-and-white design stitched onto the left leg. She had pink, white
and purple sneakers with purple laces and white ankle socks. Her ears
are pierced, but she was not wearing earrings. The
restroom at the gas station has an outside entrance that requires a key
to access, police said, but the clerk did not recall anyone who used
the restroom with the little girl. The station's video surveillance
system was not functioning.

Re: HANNAH JACKSON - 2 yo - Newark DE
Images of the young girl who was abandoned at a Newark gas station
Sunday have motivated some to offer to adopt her or become her foster
parents.
"There's plenty of us who have what people need, but we don't
realize it," said 42-year-old Caprice Costa of Pike Creek, a single
mother who was so moved by the girl's photograph that she went on the
Internet to learn about becoming a foster parent. "She just looks
precious and it hit me for some reason that here is this beautiful
young girl. I'm sure all she wants is her mommy."Despite
dozens of tips, authorities said Tuesday they have not located the
girl's family, said Newark police Lt. Brian Henry. The state has put
together a video of the child it hopes to release in hopes someone
would better recognize her."Just
to get some live action clips to help in the search," said Joseph
Smack, spokesman for the state Division of Family Services. The
girl remains with a foster family, who has two children about her age.
She has spoken, but not enough to identify herself, Smack said. The

are pierced, but she was not wearing earrings. The girl has generated interest across the country, Smack said, especially after her images were broadcast on cable news."We've had at least 40 calls
here from all over the United States wanting to adopt," Smack said,
including from Kansas, Georgia and Florida. "We've had people stopping
in our offices, physically walking in."Some
people have also called wanting to donate to the child. While thankful
for the offers, Smack said the agency has about 800 other children in
foster care that it needs to care for as well."We
would encourage people to consider becoming a foster or adoptive
parent," he said. "But if they wish to make a donation, the Division of
Family Services would gladly accept any items, clothing, money, etc."Costa, who has a 14-year-old daughter, said she considered adoption years ago, but at the time could not afford it.But now that she can, Costa said feels it is her responsibility to help."My interest is always to help somebody, but I would certainly want to help someone where I call
home because indirectly it's going to affect my daughter," She said.
"If children are in the streets in the area and we can do something
about it, I think it's our responsibility as a society."If we are going to complain about it, we certainly should be willing to reach out our hands out and help it."Anyone with information about the child may call Newark police at 366-7111.
The
child, who is believed to be about 2 years old, was found Sunday crying
inside the restroom at the Shell service station at 804 S. College Ave.Newark
police said the toddler had her hair pulled up on top of her head and
was wearing a puffy tan winter coat over a purple shirt with a small
flower print
on it. She also was wearing a diaper and blue jeans with a
pink-and-white design stitched onto the left leg. She had pink, white
and purple sneakers with purple laces and white ankle socks. Her ears

Updated info on abandoned toddler
NEWARK, Del. - February 24, 2010 (WPVI) -- Police in Newark, Delaware say they have identified the little girl found abandoned in a gas station bathroom. However, officers say they are not releasing the girls' identity to the public at this time.
Investigators add, due to the ongoing investigation and the multiple jurisdictions involved, any other information is being withheld for now.
The child, believed to be about 2 years old, was discovered in Newark on Sunday by a stranger who heard her crying.
Division of Family Services spokesman Joseph Smack said the girl is now with a foster family.
Newark police released two video clips late Tuesday of the girl playing with toys after her rescue.
Police say the gas station's video surveillance system was not working.
Smack say they've received calls from all over the country from people who wanted to adopt the girl.

This could very well be Masaraha. I don't believe they would tell anybody-before it's released to the media, authorities wouldn't want to take any chances of a "leak" before they found out what they could about the child and the situation.
I think you've done a marvelous job of bringing this possibilty (sp) to the attention of several agencies, the more eyes the better.
Just hang in there and hopefully we'll find out soon who this little girl is. Remember, it states "several juridictions involved".
Ok, back to work. Have a good afternoon! LYLAS!
