Boston cops have located two Dorchester girls who had been missing since early Friday, police said this evening.
The young girls, Maithe Daniela Ruiz, 10, and Angela Rivera, 12,
were found at the home of the younger girl’s biological mother around 7
p.m., police said.
They were taken to the Dorchester police station and evaluated by
workers from the Department of Children and Families. Their condition
was noted as “safe and sound,” police said. The girls went missing while heading for school Friday morning,
police said. Their guardian called police from their Bowdoin Street
home around 11:40 a.m., after receiving calls from the Thomas J. Kenny
Elementary and Paul A. Dever Elementary schools in Dorchester regarding
the absence of the girls.
Officer Joe Zanoli, a BPD spokesman, said police did not believe the
girls were in danger of “imminent harm” during their absence.
Julia Jenkins, who is the adoptive mother of one of the girls and
foster mother to the other, said Angela has been with her for four
years, but Daniela has only been staying with her for the past two
weeks.
“(Angela) has never done anything similar,” Jenkins said.
She said she was very worried about the girls.
