Unnamed female child - 9-18 yo (1999) - John Tomlinson - Santa Rosa County FL

A 21-year-old woman who has accused a Santa Rosa County deputy of
sexually abusing her told investigators the abuse happened when she was
between 9 and 18 years old.
Lt. John Mitchell Tomlinson, 46, a deputy of more than 20 years, was
scheduled to have his first court appearance Wednesday but asked that
it be postponed until today to give his family time to hire an
attorney. He was arrested Tuesday and charged with 120 counts of sexual
battery. His bond has been set at $845,000.The
Sheriff's Office asked the Florida Department of Law Enforcement on
March 3 to investigate whether Tomlinson had inappropriate relations
with a child. The Sheriff's Office was given information about the case
while investigating an unrelated matter.Investigators
talked to a witness March 4 who said that in 1998 or 1999 she talked
with the victim about Tomlinson inappropriately touching the victim.
The witness said she confronted Tomlinson about the allegation and he
"vehemently denied it," according to an affidavit that includes details
of the case.The
abuse began when she was almost 10 years old. She said when she would
get out the shower, Tomlinson would have her sit in his lap in a
T-shirt and underwear and insist on brushing her hair.The victim also accused Tomlinson of coming into her bedroom at night and rubbing her legs and private areas.The
victim also told investigators about a time in either 2002 or 2003 when
she was in the ninth grade. She accused Tomlinson of attempting to
perform a sex act on her.She said the abuse went from happening two to three times a week for a while to averaging four to five days a month.On
Wednesday, Tomlinson was moved from Santa Rosa County Jail to Walton
County Jail; his court appearance today is set for 8 a.m. in Walton
County.Santa
Rosa County judges recused themselves from the case because of their
familiarity with Tomlinson, who was head of Santa Rosa County
courthouse security.
