Authorities are using a helicopter and national alert system as they
continue to search for a missing 11-year-old
girl.
Cynthia Perez, 11, left her family’s Victorville home near Blue Colt
Way in the Brentwood area around 7 a.m. Thursday, San Bernardino County
Sheriff’s Victorville station officials said.
Sheriff’s aviation helicopter was flying over the area of Mojave
Drive and El Evado Road around 11 a.m. and used the public address
system to give the child’s information.
Residents around her Brentwood home also reported receiving phones
calls asking anyone who may know where the child is to call sheriff’s
officials immediately.
Authorities also activated the “A Child is Missing” system, which
helps find missing children and the elderly nationwide. It has only been
activated a handful of times in the Victor Valley, officials said.
Cynthia’s father last reported seeing her in the morning but she
never made it to her school, Karen Hunt spokeswoman for the Victorville
station, said.
She was last seen wearing skinny jeans, white tennis shoes and a
white jacket with furry trim. She is 4 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs
about 76 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.
This is the second time she has run away from home.
Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to contact
Sheriff’s Dispatch at (760) 245-4211.

VICTORVILLE • Four days after she disappeared, an 11-year-old
Victorville girl has been found safe, San Bernardino County
Sheriff’s officials said Tuesday.
Cynthia Perez called her mother in northern California and let her
know she was OK. The mother then informed sheriff’s officials.
Perez called Detective Gary Hart and they met around 10 p.m. Monday
outside the Barnes & Noble bookstore in the Mall of Victor Valley,
Karen Hunt, spokeswoman for the station said.
The girl was reunited with her father. Investigators are still
looking into the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and where
she was for several days after she ran away on Thursday.
Perez ran away once before earlier in the month. Authorities
confirmed that she ran away after custody was officially granted to her
father, but do not know if this was actually the motivating factor to
her leaving.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Hart at the
Victorville station at (760) 241-2911 or call WeTip at (800) 78-CRIME.
