XAVIER DESHUN MARTIN - 2 yo - Madison (N of Jackson) MS

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is issuing an Amber Alert following the
abduction of a child from Lamar County. Authorities are asking you to
be on the look out for a 2002 white, four door Ford Focus with a Scott
County license plate S-C-I-4-3-1.
The vehicle is occupied by an adult male and a male child.The adult is identified
as 30-year- old Cedric Deshun Martin. Martin is a black male, 6 feet
tall and weighs 165 pounds; he has brown hair and brown eyes.The
child is identified as Xavier Deshun Martin, black male, 2 years old
with long black braided hair and brown eyes 3 feet two inches tall
weighing 34 pounds.Martin was last seen on Friday, April
23, after he released the child’s mother. Martin is believed to be in
the Madison area after authorities traced his cell phone signal. Martin
is believed to be armed and is considered extremely dangerous.Anyone
with information concerning this abduction should contact the

The Lamar County man suspected of abducting his son and assaulting the
child’s mother earlier this week turned himself in this afternoon to
members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.
"He is in custody, and the child is fine," said U.S. Marshals Deputy
Steven Davis.Cedric Deshun Martin arrived at the federal
courthouse in downtown Jackson with his son and an attorney, authorities
said.An Amber Alert went out earlier today for Cedric
Martin, who allegedly took off with 2-year-old Xavier Deshun Martin on
Monday evening from the boy’s mother’s home in Lamar County.Law
enforcement agents say 30-year-old Cedric Martin struggled with the
boy’s mother before taking him. The Lamar County Sheriff’s Department
had felony warrants for his arrest on charges of rape, aggravated
assault and kidnapping.Sheriff's investigator Marc Ogden
said Cedric Martin held both the child and mother captive from April 22
until Monday evening."We did have two eye witnesses call
in due to the Amber Alert, and we confirmed each one as a true sighting
of the child and suspect," Ogden said. "Xavier was recovered safe and is
being released to his mother."The state Department of
Public Safety sent a representative from the Mississippi Bureau of
Investigation's crime victim unit to talk to the child, DPS spokesman
Jon Kalahar said.MBI also will take Cedric Martin’s
statement and then transport him back to Lamar County.

Hours after an Amber Alert was broadcasted
Thursday morning alerting law enforcement officials across Central
Mississippi, a Scott County man was in custody after having kidnapped
his son and evaded authorities since Monday.

Lamar County
Sheriff’s Investigator Sgt. Marc Ogden said that Cedric Deshun Martin,
of Scott County, turned himself in at a federal office building in
Jackson at approximately 12:55 p.m. County and state law enforcement
authorities were searching for Cedric Martin after he had taken his son,
Xavier Deshun Martin, 2, from the boy’s mother in Lamar County.

“Xavier
was recovered safe and is being released to his mother,” Ogden said.
“We did have two eye witnesses call in due to the Amber Alert and we
confirmed each one as a true sighting of the child and suspect.”

Ogden
said earlier in the day that Cedric Martin, 30, was last seen driving a
white Ford 2002 four-door Focus with Scott County tag SCI 431. He is
the primary suspect in connection with the kidnapping, rape and
aggravated assault charges of a woman stemming from an attack last
Thursday.


Ogden identified Cedric Martin as
the father of Xavier Deshun Martin, a child that he has with the woman
he is accused of attacking. Ogden said that Cedric Martin held the woman
captive until releasing her on Monday and authorities had been
searching for him since then.

Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee said
that his department was aware of Martin’s case and has been looking for
him. Lee confirmed that Martin has family in Scott County.

“We have had deputies along
Interstate 20 and other areas looking for him,” Lee said. “We have been
on the lookout for him for some time now.”
