GABBY LYNN BAIO - 2 Months - Jackson MS
Jackson MS ---- The body of a two-month-old child was found in a
bed, with her mother, in a south Jackson trailer park Monday morning.
The trailer park is on the East Frontage Road of I-55, just south of
Savannah Street.
It was a scene that upset veteran officers and firefighters, when
they could not do anything to revive the child.
"It's a very emotional time, for a lot of officers, and firefighters"
said Jackson Police spokesman Joseph Daughtry. "Although we see this
kind of stuff regularly, it tugs on your heart."
"The baby was co-mingling, sleeping with the mother" said
Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham. "And mother apparently woke up this
morning, and found the baby unresponsive. At this point we are not 100
per cent certain what the cause of death is. And it possibly could be
related to the sleeping environment with the mother. The infant has been
identified as two month old Gabby Lynn Baio. The mother's information
will be released later on pending the autopsy."
"I saw a tragedy today, and it's just been a real bad day, the day
after Mother's Day a young mother to lose her little baby like that"
said Hope Pace, a visitor to the trailer park.
The child lived with her mother and grandmother. The grandmother
found the body.

Authorities are hoping an autopsy will confirm what killed a 2-month-old
who was found dead in her home Monday morning.
Emergency responders called Jackson police around 9:30 a.m. to assist
them at Shady Creek Mobile Home Park in south Jackson. The infant was
found unresponsive in her mother's bed, JPD spokesman Joseph Daughtry
said.Firefighters and emergency workers tried to resuscitate the infant.
A woman, identified as the mother of an
infant found dead in a mobile home in Jackson Monday morning, walks
alone through the mobile home park as emergency personnel work the
scene.
The autopsy is scheduled for this morning. Hinds
County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart said there were no obvious signs
of trauma.Police would not release the names of the infant and her mother but said the
baby was living with her mother and grandmother.Neighbors and friends stood near the mobile home
crying. Some said they had heard the child may have suffocated while
sleeping with her mother, but Daughtry said he would not confirm the
manner of the girl's death until an autopsy was performed.Shady Creek's owner
Gordon Ship arrived Monday morning to collect rent and saw emergency
personnel. He said he had heard from his tenants about what may have
happened but nothing official from police.

The grandmother of a two-month-old girl who was found
dead Monday says the child was smothered accidentally while sleeping in
bed with her mother.
Ronda Collins said her daughter Jessica Baio birthed her only child, Gabby Lynn Ann Baio, on
March 16 and never left her side.“Jessica slept with Gabby
on her chest a lot at night and, during the day, put her in her crib,”
said Collins who discovered the unresponsive infant Monday morning when
she went in to Baio’s room to wake them up. Collins said
her 19-year-old daughter unknowingly had rolled over on the infant
during the night, suffocating her.“Jessica wanted to be
close to her (daughter), but I want to tell all young mothers to never
sleep with their newborns,” she said. “Make away to put them in a
crib...She’d still have her baby.”Gabby was pronounced
dead after fire fighters and emergency responders tried to revive her at
her home in the Shady Creek Mobile Home Park in south Jackson.Jackson
police investigated the baby’s death, and no charges have been filed.Hinds
County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart said, “this infant death appears
to be consistent with accidental death, but the autopsy will confirm
that.” The autopsy is being conducted this morning.Collins
said she called 911 and then sat holding her motionless granddaughter
while the baby’s mother rubbed and talked to her child.“(Jessica)
just kept telling her to wake up, that momma didn’t mean to. It was
just a freak accident,” Collins said. “Jessica was a good mother. She
lived and breathed Gabby.”

Re: GABBY LYNN BAIO - 2 Months - Jackson MS
It's so sad how this young mother lost the infant she loved so dearly, and so many other women literally throw their tiny blessings in the trash. Praying this mother and grandmother are okay and that the grandmother kept her promise to educate other young mothers to "NEVER GO TO SLEEP WITH YOUR BABY IN YOUR BED!".
