HARLEY FITZWATER - 17 yo - Longwood (N of Orlando) FL
Police in Longwood today asked the public for help in locating a
17-year-old girl who has been missing since last month.
Longwood police released few details today about Harley Fitzwater
beyond saying she was reported missing by her mother on April 12 from
their home on Winding Oak Lane.
Mother Tammy Latshaw told police she talked with her daughter on April
25 and Harley said "she was doing fine and wanted to come home," police
said in a statement.
"Since that date, the subject has not been seen or heard from. There is
no current location information for the subject," the statement added.
Police asked anyone with information to call the Longwood Police
Department's Criminal Investigations Division at 407-260-3408.

Re: HARLEY FITZWATER - 17 yo - Longwood (N of Orlando) FL
Young and angry, Harley Fitzwater has a history of meeting older men
online.
So when the 17-year-old Longwood girl vanished about seven weeks ago,
her mother was certain she left to be with someone she met on MySpace.
Harley ran away after filling her bed with Teddy bears and covering them
to make it appear as if she was asleep underneath.
The last time Tammy Latshaw heard from her daughter was April 25.
The Winter
Springs High student wouldn't say who she was with, but she said
she was in Kissimmee
and wanted to come home. She promised to call back.
That second call never came, leaving Latshaw as one of thousands of
parents across the country worried about missing children and wondering
if they will ever see them again.
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children says more than
2,650 children are missing across the country right now, including at
least 10 other teen girls from Central Florida who ran away after Harley
did.
How many of those ran away to meet online friends is unknown. But with
millions of people using Facebook,
MySpace and other sites, keeping tech-savvy children safe online is a
growing concern.
"Kids and teens have pretty much grown up on the Internet and they are
exposed to people who don't have their best interests in mind," said
Michelle Collins, vice president of the center's Exploited Children
Division. "Girls in particular are vulnerable to romantic overtures
online."
After Harley was reported missing, Longwood police immediately entered
her information into a national law-enforcement database so other police
agencies would be alerted if they found her.
Harley is 'endangered,' center says
Her information was recently added to the National Center for Missing
& Exploited Children's database.
The national organization lists Harley as an "endangered runaway"
because of what Latshaw told it about Harley's online history.
The center is warning that Harley may be with a male in the St.
Cloud area.
But Longwood police spokeswoman Kimberly Zeh said Harley is considered a
"missing runaway" and is not labeled by that agency as endangered. "No
foul play" is suspected, she said.
Longwood
authorities have had no success after following up on tips generated by
sending information about the missing girl to the media.
Recently, officers picked up the family's computer, which is being
reviewed by the Cyber Crimes Unit at the Seminole
County Sheriff's Office.
Latshaw, meanwhile, has done her own detective work, from calling all of
Harley's friends to searching for her online.
She's also appeared on local radio shows. She told listeners Harley is
"a computer geek" who isn't mature enough to take care of herself.
"She has anger issues," her mother said. "She thinks everybody is
against her."

A 17-year-old girl who went missing from her Longwood home since she ran
away in April was located in St.
Cloud and returned home, Longwood police said today.
Harley Fitzwater was found Thursday evening by St. Cloud police at a
Walmart in that city, Longwood police Sgt. Kimberly Zeh said.
The girl's mother, Tammy Latshaw, went to St. Cloud and brought her
home, Zeh said. The case is now considered closed, she said.
Latshaw, who had suspected her daughter was with someone she met on MySpace,
could not be reached this afternoon.

Though we welcome submissions on this blog we do not allow repetitive posts. Both your posts were removed because:
a) We had already reported her found with an official news report
b) I do not know what address you were giving, but we stand by the official report of where she was located
