"Newborn Boy" MEADOWS - (2010) Nashville TN

Metro Police have arrested a 27-year-old woman in the death of her
newborn child.Rachel Meadows was
charged with criminal homicide and booked into jail on $250,000 bond.Meadows gave birth to a
baby boy on March 2 in a White Bridge area apartment.
Once born, she wrapped the child in a pair of pants, according to her
arrest affidavit.Police received a call the next day that
a baby may have died inside an apartment in the 5800 block of Maudina
Avenue. Police went in and found the boy dead underneath a
crib, still wrapped in the pants, the affidavit said. “We
fully believe that she did not attempt to assist this child in any
way,” said police spokesman Don Aaron. “In fact she harmed her newborn
infant boy.”Aaron declined to elaborate on how Meadows may
have harmed the boy, saying that the final autopsy report has not yet
been issued.

IMO the government should spend more money on educating women about the "Safe Haven Law". This should be done in doctor's offices and hospitals. The same way these women go and take lamaz (sp) classes, they should be advised about the very important law so things like this do not keep happening.....Just makes me angry how you can carry a baby for 9 whole months and then just deny it life at the time it is born.

Rachel Meadows pled guilty Thursday to the March 2010 murder of her newborn son.


NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A west Nashville woman pled guilty Thursday to the 2010 murder of her newborn son.
As part of the plea, Rachel Meadows will serve 30 years in prison at 100%.
Last March, the police department received notification from a citizen that a baby had been born inside a Maudina Avenue apartment and might be dead.
Responding officers found the child deceased and wrapped in a pair of pants underneath a crib.
Meadows acknowledged giving birth the prior day and said that the child whimpered before she covered him in a blanket.
She was arrested and charged with the child's death two months later.
