Bremerton WA ---- The family of a missing
Bremerton teenager has offered a $25,000 reward for information leading
to her safe return.

Kara Radabah vanished two weeks ago without
her keys, wallet, or the medication she needs to take for schizophrenia.



Her family says Kara stopped taking her medicine two weeks ago and symptoms
of the disease returned. That is when she left her house.

A police dog picked up her scent at nearby Illahee State Park but at 30th
& Trenton in Bremerton the trail ended as though she may have been
picked up by a passing car.

Police are following up on leads but nothing has panned out so far.
The concern is that someone may be holding the girl against her wishes if she is in a delusional state.

Tips have been coming in from as far as Bellingham for a missing
Bremerton teenager. Kara Radabah disappeared two weeks ago without her
keys, wallet, or the medication she needs for a serious illness.
Kara grew up a shy and booksmart girl. Radabah graduated with honors
from Bremerton High School last year and got a scholarship at Central
Washington University.
"She just loves people. She's one of the most down to earth people
you'll ever meet," says her father, John Radabah.
But at college, her family noticed something was wrong. Kara started
showing signs of schizophrenia.
"As we talked there were things she was saying that didn't make
sense. That there were doctors on her floor at her dorm room, that there
were experiments happening," says Cheryl Radabah, her mother.
Her parents brought her home, where Kara received the treatment she
needed. She started attending classes near home, and got a new car. Then
two weeks ago, her mother noticed Kara stopped taking her medication
and the symptoms returned.
"I held my hand out and took hers and told her I want you to know I'm
never going to abandon you, I will walk with this with you, I'm going
to be there the whole way, but we're going to go to the doctors and get
this fixed," says her mother.
That's when Kara slipped outside and disappeared.
A police K-9 unit picked up her scent at nearby Illahee State Park.
And each time the track lead to 30th and Trenton in Bremerton. But then
the track ended abruptly as if she was picked up by a passing car.
"I've check her computer and I've checked her cell phone, because
she's left home with absolutely nothing," says Cheryl.
The 19-year-old left without her wallet, her keys, her contacts and
her meds. Her parents don't know what they fear more.
"Either somebody has her, or the delusions have gotten so bad that
she cannot tell what's reality and what's a delusion," says her father.
Police are following up on the tips, but so far none of them have
panned out. Her family is offering a $25,000 reward for information
leading to her safe return.

For the second time in two months, a teenage girl has vanished in
Bremerton.

19-year-old Kara Radabah disappeared on May 13th. Now, 16-year-old
Nellie Bail has been gone since July 8th. Both girls vanished within a
mile of each other.

Their disappearances have brought both girls' families together to try
to find them. Nellie's mother and father, Kim and Ward Bail, say they
are sick with worry. When she first disappeared, they thought she might
have run away because she's acted out before. They are confident now
that's not what happened. Ward Bail says,
"This didn't have any warnings. There were no warnings. That's why we're
so confused. We keep a pretty tight watch."

The Bail's say the day she vanished Nellie was eager to get out of the
house and go to driving school. She was last seen around 9pm that night
leaving the school at Perry Avenue Mall on her bicycle. Her dad says,
"At 9pm, I looked at the clock and said well, she should be here in 15
minutes, she may have stopped and talked for a few minutes, the bike
ride shouldn't have taken more than a few minutes because it's downhill
the whole way."

Now, Nellie's mom and dad are frustrated and scared for her.

Kara Radabah's mother Cheryl can relate. She's worked hard to get the
word out about her daughter's disappearance in May. She understands the
paralyzing fear the Bail family feels, so she reached out to them to
help by offering advice and support.

Cheryl says there are similarities in both teen's disappearances. Not
only did they take driving lessons from the same school, Kara went
missing near Illahee State Park. That's less then a mile from where
Nellie vanished. Search dogs tracked Kara walking towards Perry Avenue
Mall, the same mall Nellie was seen riding by. Unlike Nellie, Kara has a
medical condition that can cause her to be vulnerable to the wrong
person when she's forgotten to take her medicine. Cheryl says, "I
believe that if Kara had not been interrupted coming home that night,
she would have come home."

While Kitsap County detectives are actively working Kara's case as an
endangered missing teen, Bremerton Police say Nellie is a runaway and
they are not linking the two cases together.

Det. Sgt. Kevin Crane says, "The missing person Kitsap County case..we
have absolutely no evidence the two are connected in any way. We took a
runaway report that night, from her, from the parents and we've been
following up, we've been in contact with the driving school."

Whatever happened, it's a nightmare for both families who hope the girls
are okay, but fear the worst. Cheryl says, "I'd just like to implore
people to keep their eyes open for Kara and for Nelly, something is
wrong..something is off...just pleading with people out there to keep
their faces in their minds..they could be anywhere."

Remains found in a ravine in the north end of Illahee State Park
Sunday morning are believed to be those of Kara Lynn Radabah, a
19-year-old Bremerton woman who disappeared May 13th.
Scott Wilson of the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office said a German
Sherpard with their K-9 search and rescue team found the remains down a
very steep ravine just off Steinman Lane in the park. Wilson said a
piece of clothing found at the scene matched the woman's description.
He said the the Medical Examiner's Office will officially identify
the body, but they are reasonably certain the remains are those of the
missing teen. He added there was no indication of foul play.
Radabah was last seen about 6 p.m. on May 13 in the campground area
at Illahee State Park in East Bremerton after leaving home unexpectedly.
Radabah was diagnosed with schizophrenia within the past year and was
being cared for at home, located near the park. Statement released said
Radabah recently stopped taking her prescribed medications and has been
acting delusional.
In May, the sheriff's office search and rescue team had looked for
Radabah on the ground and in the water near the park. Sunday's follow-up
search effort was planned between the sheriff's office search and
rescue team and volunteers.

All her hunches and gut feelings told Cheryl Radabah that her 19-year-old daughter was not coming back.

It was not Kara Lynn Radabah’s way to leave her Bremerton-area house and stay away on purpose.

On Sunday morning, those feelings were confirmed.

...found to be in good health, Crane said. She was then turned over to Child Protective Services because she said she had been abused at home, Crane said.

Fund Established Honoring Bremerton Woman Found Dead Near Park

The parents of Kara Lynn Radabah have established a memorial fund in their daughter’s name to help students pay for school-sponsored trips and to help pay for fun days for the developmentally disabled....

...Cheryl Radabah said Kara’s condition likely caused her to leave the house and not return and that she probably died from exposure. Scott Wilson, Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, confirmed that a report by Dr. Kathy Taylor, King County forensic anthropologist, showed there were no signs of physical violence to Radabah at the time of her death. The cause of death has officially be ruled as “undetermined” by deputies and the case is closed.

Donations to the Kara Radabah Memorial Fund can be accepted at any U.S. Bank branch.
