Interpol: Joran van der Sloot arrested in Santiago



Joran van
der Sloot is being investigated in connection with a woman's death in
Peru.

[Updated at 1 p.m.] Joran van der Sloot has been
arrested and is in police custody in Santiago, Chile, an Interpol
spokesperson in Santiago told CNN.
Joran van der Sloot is a suspect in a young woman's slaying this week
in Peru and was previously considered a suspect in the 2005
disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway in Aruba.
[Updated at 12 p.m.] Chilean investigators have
told CNN Chile that Joran van der Sloot was spotted in Arica, Chile,
near the Peruvian border and they believe he may still be there.
[Posted at 11 a.m.] Peruvian authorities
investigating a young woman's slaying this week are working with
officials from Interpol, Chile, Argentina and Colombia in the search for
Joran van der Sloot, a Dutch man previously considered a suspect in the
2005 disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway, the Peruvian
justice minister said Thursday.
There is "incriminating evidence"
linking van der Sloot to the killing of 21-year-old Stephany Flores
Ramirez, who was found with multiple stab wounds in a Lima hotel room
Wednesday, Cesar Guardia Vasquez, of Chile Interpol's criminal
investigations unit, said at a news conference.
The hotel room where Flores was found was registered in van der
Sloot's name, he said.
A hotel guest and an employee witnessed the pair entering the hotel
room together at 5 a.m. on Sunday, Guardia said.
Police have video of the previous night, May 29, of van der Sloot and
Flores together at the Atlantic City Casino in Lima, he said.
According to immigration officials, van der Sloot fled to Chile over
land on Monday, Guardia said.
"We have all the evidence to show that the killer is this man," the
victim's father, businessman and race-car driver Ricardo Flores told CNN

"And now the bombshell breaking news, a disturbing twist
in this case right here in the United States. Van der Sloot allegedly
paid for his trip to South America by extorting money from Natalee
Holloway's mother.

The U.S. attorney in Alabama says van der Sloot promised
to tell Beth Holloway what really happened to her daughter in Aruba in
exchange for a big cash payout. Van der Sloot tried to get $250,000 but
ended up taking $15,000 as a down payment before fleeing to South
America. Van der Sloot today has been charged with extortion.

And the story does get worse. As early as May 10th, the
FBI knew they had a case against van der Sloot, but the FBI failed to
arrest him or act until today. In other words, had they arrested van der
Sloot on May 10th when they had the case against him, he would not have
been able to travel to South America and there would be no murder."

I don't understand how this piece of trash has gotten away with the many crimes he has committed! I am certain there are crimes he committed that we don't know about. (sadly probably more crimes unreported than reported) He is Dangerous and I hope that he is locked up for the rest of his life so no other innocent people are harmed by him.

I have just received a hand drawn map that Joran Van Der Sloot drew indicating where he now claims he disposed of Natalee Holloway’s body.

The map came from “Jaap” a former friend of Joran Van Der Sloot’s. Dave Holloway put us in touch. Joran befriended Jaap after he won a reality show in the Netherlands, and a large sum of money, Just like he met Stephany Flores in the Casino in Peru, its Van Der Sloots mo to befriend people with money. Stephany had won $5,000.00.

Japp produced a documentary on Van Der Sloot and Van Der sloot told him yet another version of what happened to Natalee that night, and he drew a map I now have the map. Because Jaap was in contact with Joran in the midst of the sting operation I mentioned in the last post, his communications were being monitored by the FBI. When Japp contacted me and informed me about the tapes he had, his house was raided that night and investigators seized, Japps computers, cell phone and the tapes he shot of Joran. I was able to get the map.

Tim Miller from Texas Equusearch is here. I have given him the map and he is working on the search as I write this. It’s a stretch but Miller says “We have to follow every lead and we can’t afford not to do this”

Once Joran van der Sloot is released from police custody after a week, the media in Peru say he will be transferred to the Miguel Castro Castro prison on the outskirts of Lima. This is a maximum security jail for serious offenders, including murderers and rapists. It holds 4,000 prisoners. Those who can pay rent a cell for themselves, those who can't sleep in the corridors. Often several men have to share a bed.

A couple of years ago the Peruvian newspaper Correo described how a number of inmates convicted of raping minors were killed by their fellow convicts. A psychologist told the paper: "There is a pecking order in the world of violent criminals. Crimes against helpless women and children are considered cowardly and are punished."

Dutch daily De Telegraaf reports that Peruvian police think Stephany Flores may have been killed with a tennis racket. Apparently a great deal of blood was found both in the hotel bed and in the bathroom. Police are investigating skin found under the dead girl's fingernails and shoe prints found between the bed and the bathroom.

De Telegraaf also claims that the body of Stephany Flores was found as the result of a tip from 35-year-old poker player Elton Garcia. He was staying in the same hotel as Joran van der Sloot and played poker with him and Stephany Flores. According to Elton Garcia's police statement, when the Dutchman failed to appear for an appointment he began to worry and asked the hotel management if he could look in Joran's room.

LIMA, Peru - A high-ranking Peruvian government official confirmed to NBC News Monday night that Joran van der Sloot confessed to the slaying of a 21-year-old Lima woman.

According to La Republica newspaper, he said that his anger exploded and he broke Stephany Flores' neck after she grabbed his laptop without his permission, and found out that he was involved in the disappearance of an American woman.

That’s their slogan here. Its on the license plates. This has been the craziest day. This story is changing by the second. Trust me when I tell you it is about to get crazier. There are alot of HUGE breakthroughs coming in this case. The finger pointing is beginning in the extortion case. The Aruban authorities are now claiming they notified American authorities that Van Der Sloot was leaving. Whatever the case, Van Der Sloot alluded authorities, slipped out of Aruba with $25,000, and murdered Stephany Flores in Peru and is being questioned about the disappearance of 2 other girls from a casino in Peru. Authorities have more than egg on their face, they have blood on their hands. How could he just “slip” out of Aruba undetected with a large amount of cash. This is not the first time Joran Van Der Sloot has extorted money from people to reveal what happened to Natalee. I have first hand knowledge of that. Dave Holloway is no longer coming to Aruba. stay tuned.

In the time it took Joran van der Sloot to buy a cup of coffee, Stephany Flores Ramirez learned something that cost her her life.

According to Peruvian authorities van der Sloot confessed to killing Flores, a 22-year-old Peruvian woman he had met only hours earlier when playing poker, because she found something on his laptop computer – something she was never meant to see.

"I did not want to do it," he confessed to police, but "the girl intruded into my private life."

Just after news broke that Joran was wanted for the Flores murder, Dutch journalist Jaap Amesz interviewed a friend of van der Sloot, who described him as broke, "completely desperate and pretty depressed."

"I was in touch with Joran until right before May 30," the friend told Amesz."He was in Peru, that was known. In Aruba he couldn't deal with it anymore. His relationship with his mother was getting worse, he had gambled money away again. This is what preceded his flight to Peru. Right before the weekend it was clear that Joran was in financial trouble, and he was pretty confused. Driven by hunger, the fear of not being able to pay for his hotel. He desperately needed money. I have never seen Joran so frustrated as in this period."

Reenactment may be key to charges and jail time

The crime scene walkthrough could also determine the kind of sentence van der Sloot receives here.

His version suggests that the murder was not premeditated as has been speculated, because of the fact that Flores’ murder occurred on the fifth anniversary of Holloway's disappearancet. Van der Sloot has been called the "May 30 serial killer" in the Peruvian press.

His account would also rule out robbery as a motive.

These facts are crucial, because the charge of homicide or second-degree murder carries a sentence as low as 15 years. With good behavior, study and work in a Peruvian prison, van der Sloot could, hypothetically, be released within seven years.

In this scenario, he would not yet be 30-years-old when released.

Joran van der Sloot Continues His Game

Police in Peru say murder suspect Joran van der Sloot has told them he knows the location of the body of Natalie Holloway, but he will only explain and provide details about the Holloway case to Aruban authorities.

He just can’t stop running his mouth! Peruvian authorities don’t care! They have their own murder to deal with.

van der Sloot was transferred from a police facility to the national attorney general’s office Thursday morning and his attorney, Maximo Alonso Altez said his client will be moved from the attorney general’s office to the Justice Ministry, where a judge will determine which jail he will go to. Speculation is, that of the three maximum security facilities: Miguel Castro Castro, Piedras Gordas or Lurigancho, van der Sloot will be sent to Castro Castro.

Is it me or do van der Sloot’s photos get scarier by the day?

Altez said he will ask the judge to toss out van der Sloot’s confession because he was not properly represented when he was interrogated.

Altez claims police got a public defense attorney to be present at the interrogation and subsequent confession, but that van der Sloot never agreed to be represented by this lawyer.

Altez also claims the handling of the evidence was tainted. He claims the body was mishandled during the crime scene investigation.

Altez said he intends fight and take this to trial.

Altez resides in Miami but has offices in Peru.
